Alfresco Alsace breaks are often an excellent choice – and particularly when they’re also within the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park, as Camping Les Vosges Du Nord is. With trees all around, mountains as the backdrop and the village amenities of Oberbronn a kilometre away, this is a fine spot in which to settle for a stay in this area. Being in the midst of a natural park means that of course there are plenty of places to get out for a walk nearby. More activity? There’s plenty more of that nearby, including tennis, climbing, horse riding, fishing and miniature golf. If that all sounds a bit too much, select days out exploring the area’s castles, museums and pretty villages, or take a stroll around Strasbourg (45 minutes’ drive away). Wear yourselves out as much as you like on these outings, as there’s the prospect of a wellness centre waiting for you back at base: the indoor pool means that you can swim in all weathers, and there’s also a hot tub and sauna to aid in further relaxation. Various games (including table tennis, pétanque and volleyball) are on hand if you need a bit more activity instead, and there’s a play area for the kids. Come along in the summer season (May to October) and you can dine at the on-site restaurant, pick up groceries at the shop, buy ice creams and order bread to be delivered for breakfast.

Disliked Es war nicht so ruhig wie wir dachten, manche Stellplätze waren etwas abschüssig, für Wohnmobiele kein Problem, aber zum Zelten eine kleine Herausforderung. Die Rezeption hat von Montag bis Freitag von 14.00 Uhr- 19.00 Uhr geöffnet, dass fanden wir etwas doof. Wir wollten uns ein Fahrrad ausleihen, kam dann aber nicht dazu. W-Lan gibt es nicht kostenlose, muss man bezahlen und das probiere Gerät und Tag.

Liked De voorzieningen waren zeer proper. Ook het zwembad en de sauna’s waren in orde.
De bestelling voor het brood ging ook heel vlot. Al bij al een heel goede ervaring.
In de buurt ook enorm mooie wandelingen

Disliked Er was de 2de nacht redelijk veel lawaai van buiten de camping afkomstig, een knal met daarna meerdere helicopters. Ik dacht even aan 1940, maar staat dus los van de camping zelf.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely campsite. Great swimming pool (inside) with sauna and steam room. Fantastic outside kids play area.
Nice restaurant with outside terrace. Drinks very well priced. We did not eat in the restaurant, however food looked good and well priced.
Good location for exploring Strasbourg and good sized pitches.

Disliked Toilet and shower facilities need to be cleaner.

WiFi was an additional charge.

Liked Booked a single night and extended for a second one. Staff could not have been more helpful arranging so we didn’t have to move pitch. Talking of which reviews, she me mentioned m pitches were not at all flat. Ours was great. Showers/WC blocks very clean and water hot. Kids loved the pool - very small but not a problem. Also play area. You can order bread/ croissants etc for pick-up at breakfast which we took advantage of. Didn’t use cafe/ restaurant but it looked to be popular.

Liked De rust, schaduwrijke plek, het zwembad, sauna en het restaurant

Disliked De sluiting van de mannenzijde van het grote (moderne) toiletgebouw, waardoor er voor alle mannen feitelijk maar één toilethokje en één urinoir beschikbaar waren in het andere (verouderde) gebouw.
En het verbod op bbq. Ik begrijp dat open vuur niet verantwoord is, maar bbq hoort toch echt bij kamperen.Ook jammer dat het buitenzwembad niet (meer) in gebruik was.

We nemen uw opmerking over de sluiting van de sanitaire voorzieningen voor mannen ter harte. We begrijpen dat dit vervelend kan zijn geweest en zullen nadenken over een betere organisatie voor de toekomst.

Local attractions

One of the most striking landmarks around here is the Maginot Line, the 200-kilometre fortification built during World War II – its construction was ambitious at the time, and it’s still an eye-opener to visit now. A good spot to head for is Fort de Schoenbourg (25 minutes’ drive), where you can see it up close and learn about its significance. To step back a little further in time, places like Bitche (25 minutes) and Butten (40 minutes) give you a chance to wander through flower-filled streets to see half-timbered houses and even older buildings. For more on that front, make tracks to the châteaux of Wasenbourg, Schoeneck (both 25 minutes) and Fleckenstein (35 minutes) or set off to explore the ancient and modern sides of Strasbourg (45 minutes). If the kids need a rest from all the history lessons, perhaps steer instead towards the likes of Parc Tépacap (25 minutes) for trails through the treetops, or Didiland (20 minutes) for family-friendly rides of various styles.
