Wander off to the west coast of Zealand, where vineyards, sandy coves, castles and islands are all around… Vesterlyng Camping will plant you right on a wildlife haven with sea views, just 15 minutes’ walk from the sand at Vesterlyng Strand. Whether you’re kayaking or windsurfing down there or taking a bike ride to Dragsholm Castle half an hour’s cycle away, there’s plenty of scope for an active or relaxing break at this site…
The family-friendly and dog-friendly site is part of a coastal meadow, so adventures on foot are also a possibility. The small local harbour town named Havnsø is just 25 minutes’ walk away and from there, the ferry services will take you to two islands, Sejerø and Nekselø, where the beaches are particularly peaceful.
It’s a unique set-up at Vesterlyng Camping, what with all the nature and mix of great facilities. Kids can take to the playgrounds or challenge themselves to a round on the miniature golf course. On top of that, there’s a heated outdoor swimming pool for family paddles. With newly-renovated sanitary facilities, the basics are covered too.
Where to go for your days out? Well, those of you who want to visit the capital city can take an hour and 15 minutes’ drive to Copenhagen if you wish. Closer by is Denmark's largest winery, Dyrehøj Vingaard (35 minutes' drive), where there are tours and wine, liqueur, gin and brandy to taste – pair it with a visit to the five-towered church medieval architecture in Kalundborg (25 minutes) or the lighthouse at Røsnæs Fyr (50 minutes).

Local attractions
With sea views to tempt you on site, it’s only natural you’ll be drawn to the coast… so, lower your fishing line for trout or mullets from the stone reef at Ordrup næs (25 minutes’ drive), plunge off the jetty at The Beach of Saltbaek (half an hour) or climb into a canoe or kayak to do a lap around the bay at Lammefjorden (35 minutes).
With Hørby Havn (half an hour) another place that's close by, you’ll always have the option of watching the skippers or claiming some of their fresh hauls from the shops there.
When you’re after something to shake things up a little, a visit to a Viking fortress could also be on the cards at Trelleborg (45 minutes). On the other hand, those of you who have kids to entertain will only need to leap in the car and take the drive to Sommerland Sjælland (half an hour). With lots of rides, go karts and water park slides, you might want to dedicate a whole day to this place.
