If you’re one for wanting lots of room to manoeuvre on a hol – as well as plenty of activities to keep the smaller (and louder) members of the family busy – give A35 Sindal Camping a go. At this roomy 11-acre site in north Jutland, you can stretch out in peace while the kids make the most of fab family-friendly amenities like a heated swimming pool and four splendidly equipped play areas… If the younger travellers in your squad are likely to whizz through those in seconds and come back asking what else there is to do, this site’s sure to suit them: it has attractions ranging from a 30-metre cable car to miniature golf and a beach volleyball court to keep even the most fickle small fry amused. And if mums and dads like lively entertainment as well, they can time their visit for when one of the music or food festivals are organised in the site’s 150-seater gazebo. This park’s in an ace position a 20-minute walk from the town of Sindal (for handy amenities like supermarkets, restaurants and petrol stations) on Denmark’s Vendsyssel-Thy island. The surrounding area also has oodles of family attractions, like Slotved Dyrehave zoo (less than five minutes’ drive) with a recreation area including walking trails, viewpoints and picnicking places. Guests can rent bikes from the site and journey there for pedal-pushing days out on the mountain biking path, or borrow a canoe for paddles on the Uggerby River. Liked Check in was great, forgive me I forget his name, he was so helpful, spoke great English, far far beter than my Danish it has to be said, best camp site in a long long time, clean, tidy the works! Wifi was good , site was quiet so no need to activate ye olde Starlink !

Vendsyssel-Thy is known for its wild nature: guests can start off in the very tip of the island around Skagen to stroll the long sandbar spit of Grenen (45 minutes’ drive) where the Skagerrak and Kattegat seas meet on Denmark’s most northern point before heading back towards the huge Råbjerg Mile sand dune (35 minutes) and clambering to the top for views all around… In Skagen town (35 minutes) are a couple of art museums and churches in jazzy colours to check out; swerve towards the marina once lunchtime comes around for seafood bought fresh from the fishing boats. Fonder of creatures that fly rather than wriggle through the water? The nature reserve at Vejlerne is an hour and 15 minutes’ drive away, with spoonbills being some of the most popular birds to see here.
