  • Family-friendly site with sea views near Donj Humac, on Brač island
  • Supetar 10 minutes’ drive; Golden Horn Beach 35 minutes
  • Dogs welcome; local produce to buy; a restaurant one-minute walk away
The Croatian island of Brač and the spectacular coastline of Split-Dalmatia County are yours to explore from Camping Brizi, a secluded site in a rural location a five-minute drive from the historic stone village of Donj Humac. Level pitches shaded by trees and shrubs come with unforgettable sea views. And if you just can’t wait to dip your toes, have a snorkel or launch the canoe in those crystal-clear waters, the seaside resort of Supetar is about six kilometres away (10 minutes’ drive) and easily accessed via the 113 road, which passes a short distance from the site. Beaches in Supetar include sheltered Supetar plaža, with shallow waters for paddling and a water park at its northern end; and Plaža Babin laz, fringed by vegetation and with views of the mainland across the water. But back to the site… This family- (and dog-) friendly spot might have few bells and whistles, but it is more than adequately equipped in terms of amenities, with a toilet block, showers and a washing-up area where you can do the post-barbecue dishes. As for what to put on the grill (by the way, you will need to bring your own)… well, the site grows its own vegetables (and fruit, too), so you could go hyper-local (this is as close to zero-kilometre food as it gets), or you could hit the shops in Donj Humac or Supetar. Feeling too lazy to cook and too lazy to drive to a seaside pizzeria? Rejoice, for there is a restaurant within a one-minute walk, and it comes with inspiring sea views, too.

Local attractions

The Olive oil museum (10 minutes’ drive) is part of a family-run business established in the 1860s. Here visitors can see old olive presses and other agricultural machines, as well as arrange guided tastings of home-made olive oils and jams. After the museum, drive on to Mirje (20 minutes) to see the remains of a Roman monastic complex. Drive across the island to the south coast and Golden Horn Beach (35 minutes). This expanse of sand and pebbles backed by a pine forest occupies a spit of land stretching towards the island of Hvar and is anchored at one end by a water park with inflatable structures. Ferries depart from Supetar to Split, on the mainland (a journey of about 50 minutes), where there are numerous Roman-era sights, such as Diocletian’s Palace and Jupiter’s Temple, as well as buildings dating back to the Venetian occupation, like the Old Town Hall, with its Gothic arches.
