If you’re wondering what’s in store with stays at Long Point Eco-Adventures, the clue is in the title (several clues, in fact)…
Long Point: this family-friendly glampsite is in a scenic spot, with the surrounding landscape of Turkey Point Marsh and Long Point Bay on Lake Erie. Oh, and the Long Point Biosphere Reserve is a UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve, so you get an idea of the significance of the area.
Eco: the folk here take pride in their environmental leadership, arranging activities that protect the natural habitat. The park also uses local, sustainable and handmade products; local craftsman created the rustic-inspired décor that outfits the pods, while the pods themselves were handmade in Ontario.
Adventures: all sorts of adventures await here, with the team organising both on- and off-site activities to fill up your days. Think ziplining, astronomy and observatory tours, beekeeper tours, axe throwing, mountain biking, kayaking, boat tours and fishing.
As for your accommodation, there’s no need to sacrifice little luxuries – you’ll be greeted by a proper bed, fresh linen, local soap products and free wifi. No need to sacrifice your dog, either, as it’s a pet-friendly place.
Breakfast is included, too, which is handy if you plan on embarking on some of the activities on offer (axe throwing is hungry work, you know?). There’s also a restaurant with a locally inspired menu.

Local attractions
For activities of a slightly less energetic nature than some of the Long Point Eco-Adventures offering, opt for tours and tastings at Burning Kiln Winery, or, if beer is more to your taste, visit Hometown Brewing Company to try their brews (both within five minutes' walk). You could also link up with the Toast the Coast Wine Trail to sample more tipples along Ontario’s south coast.
You’re not short of a beach around here, with several spots dotted around Lake Erie, including Turkey Point Beach (five-minute drive or half-hour walk), Long Point Beach (20 minutes’ drive) and Port Dover Beach (25 minutes). Port Dover is also home to a harbour museum, marina and lighthouse, so there are some things to see during your sandy outing.
Add some wildlife spots into the mix with a visit to the Big Creek National Wildlife Area (20 minutes) – be on the lookout for birds, frogs and turtles – or take to the water for a scenic boat trip to the tip of Long Point.
