Row on over to Lake Shkodra Resort, a family-friendly site five minutes’ drive from the small settlement of Grilë and 15 minutes from the city of Shkodër, where activities revolve around the lake… and rightly so. Lake Shkodra is the largest in the Balkans, and the water is calm and warm enough to make it simply fab for swimming and watersports. Guests kayaking, canoeing, rowing and windsurfing are regular sights on the water, and canoes, stand-up paddleboards and pedalos are available for hire from reception, so there are no excuses (other than a chronic fear of water) for not diving in. There’s loads to do for those who prefer to stay dry too: a sandy beach is well placed for lakeside strolls, the lake is well-stocked for rod fishing, and the site’s also a top spot for birdwatching, with more than 200 species of bird in one of the largest reserves in Europe. Keen twitchers should keep eyes peeled for cormorants, pelicans, owls, sombre tits, red-rumped swallows and flocks and flocks more. A restaurant by the beach serves up traditional Albanian eats to titillate taste buds, as well as pizza, homegrown organic veggies, and grilled seafood and meat… and even more options in Shkodër if none of that gets mouths watering. For a change of scenery, get out and about with guided tours leaving the site for Shkodër, Lake Koman, Kruja, Thethi, Vermosh and Valbona, with boat trips, hikes, bazaars and castles as added enticements – some of the tours are multi-day, so be sure to pack an overnight bag just in case.

Liked Fast alles war super, toller Platz, nicht überfüllt, gutes Restaurant mit einem super netten Kellnerteam, sehr freundlich, aufmerksam, hilfsbereit, gutes Essen, Preise gut, sehr gute Sanitäranlagen, toll, dass auch die Vögel und andere Tiere hier Platz finden.

Disliked Unter dem Blätterdach Bambusmatten wären sinnvoll gegen Vogelkot. Es gibt viele Stechmücken und Fliegen und der See ist leider fast zu warm zum baden.
Ansonsten alles prima

Liked Der Campingplatz liegt direkt am See und lädt zum Baden ein. Die Sanitäranlagen werden den ganzen Tag gereinigt. Es gibt einen kleinen Markt und ein Restaurant mit super Essen. Das Personal überall sehr freundlich.

Disliked Bedingt durch die Erweiterung des Campingplatz war es zu Stoßzeiten etwas voll beim Duschen.

Liked Super camping. Beaucoup d'ombre grâce au système astucieux de la vigne vierge surplombant les emplacements. Les sanitaires sont tops et toujours très propres. Au bout du camping, la petite plage au bord du lac avec les transats, les parasols en bois et le petit bar-restaurant, viennent couronner le côté super agréable des lieux. Enfin, tout le personnel était super sympa. Nous serions bien resté davantage.....Nous avons adoré!

Disliked Dommage qu'il y ait si peu de choses dans la petite épicerie...mais c'est accessoire!

Liked Dear friends, my feelings upon visiting your campsite were "SURPRISE". Of course in a good way. Everything is neat and clean. The camping areas are large, clean and accessible. The lawn in the middle gives the campsite a special charm, as it is large and neat, and is even lit up at night so that children really enjoy playing with a ball or riding a scooter. The shower cabins and toilets are always impeccable, as they are constantly monitored by a cleaning lady. The restaurant is great, and the staff is very friendly. I am glad that you let the swallows nest in the attic of the restaurant. This adds a special charm to the atmosphere while eating. Once again, I would like to thank you for your SMILING FRIENDSHIP.

Disliked The only drawback is that there is no shade on the beach.

If explores without guides or other guests appeal, Shkodër is an essential first stop. It’s the oldest city in Albania – it’s been around a whopping 2,400 years – and there’s plenty here to keep the whole family entertained, from the stunning Lead Mosque and Rozafa Castle to the 17th-century Ottoman Mes Bridge and the immense collection of photos at the Marubi National Museum. For nature-filled wanders, start with hikes an hour and a half’s drive away in Maranai Park, then venture on to the fjords of Lake Koman, trails at Vermosh and Thethi in the Albanian Alps and (if four hours of driving isn’t too much of a turn-off) spectacularly scenic adventures in Valbonë Valley National Park. A return to urban days is recommended for treks around the bazaar, castle, national museums and pretty streets of Krujë and a two-hour journey to the Albanian capital of Tirana is a must for a taste of big-city museums, castles, mosques, historical walking areas and – of course – shopping.
