  • On a 250-acre National Trust farm with stunning sea views
  • Wildlife haven five minutes' walk from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
  • Firewood or charcoal available to buy for campfires and barbecues
In an utterly lush location just four miles north of St Davids, Celtic Camping in Pembrokeshire is based on the 250-acre working and wildlife-laden National Trust farm of Pwll Caerog, part of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. And then there’s the beach: the pebbly cove of Aber Pwll is at the foot of the farm about five minutes’ walk away. You’ll be reeling with glee at the views from all around here, right across the Irish Sea and Abereiddy Bay with slate quarry-filled Blue Lagoon, a deeply desirable spot for diving and twice host of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. If you want walkies, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is about 500 metres from the farm and coastal trails run from Abereiddy to the village of Porthgain in one direction, and to Whitesands Bay via St Davids Head in the other. This is a relaxed and friendly site with loads of space for all: dogs, families, individuals and couples included. Toilets and showers are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis by a dedicated cleaning team. During peak season, the site opens up a restaurant for breakfast and evening meals. There's a shop on site during high season, as well as musical entertainment every Saturday evening during the summer months. The site also has a large temporary indoor dining area, but you might reckon this is one of the most viewsome places around to eat alfresco: campfires and barbecues are – naturally – allowed, and firewood or charcoal can be bought from the amiable Celtic Camping team.

Pen Berry Field powered grass campsite

Liked A great site run by local farming family with easy access to the Pembrokeshire coast path. Lots of space, amenities and wonderful views over the sea. Would thoroughly recommend Celtic Camping as a central base for a holiday in Pembrokeshire.

Pen Berry Field powered grass campsite

Liked The views were amazing! And the site was clean and very well organized.

Disliked There was one field which were very very very noisy after 11pm - although luckily for me and my family we were camped in the next field and the noise did not impact my kids. I wasn't sure if the campsite had a no noise after 11pm rule - this would influence my choice on staying here again.

Lower Abereiddi Field primitive grass campsite

Liked Such a lovely campsite, loads of space to pitch up and stunning views. Great facilities onsite for heating your food and hot water.

Disliked The toilets could have been cleaned more regularly - maybe they need twice a day after the morning rush and then evening rush. The soap dispensers were quite often empty.

Lower Abereiddi Field powered grass campsite

Liked The sunsets and sea view.

Disliked Cleanliness of the loos and showers.
They were cleaned every morning but I think the volume of people coming and going, the facilities did not take long to get mucky again. Sadly, people do not clean up after themselves.

Upper Abereiddi Field primitive grass campsite

Liked One of the most underrated, unexpectedly good campsites that I’ve been to. Can choose where you’d like to park, facilities are great in terms of washing machines fridge freezer, barns, eating areas, their own catering which the curry was amazing! views are incredible. walks are great. Just never expected it to be as good as it was for such a last-minute booking and for the price. The cleaning lady was also super friendly and chatty.

Disliked Showers could do with some maintenance

Lower Abereiddi Field powered grass campsite

Liked Great location and Stunning views.
Good amenities!
Bonus also that we didn't know was available is that they do breakfast and dinner which is a great convenience that I've never had at a campsite before. And the food prices are reasonable. Some of the best burgers ever!

Phone reception and 4g/5g is poor. But the site does have WiFi. And also reception is ok down by the showers.

Local attractions

Coasteering, kayaking, sailing, surfing, rock climbing and other hair-raising and scenic adventures are all around, with several activity centres easily reachable from Celtic Camping; the site staff can arrange something for those who’d like to plunge in. If you’re taking to the area under your own steam, Pembrokeshire has dozens of eye-wateringly pretty beaches to pick from: award-winning Whitesands, about 40 minutes’ walk from Abereiddy Bay, is a hit with surfers for the breaks on its northern end. A little further along the coast from Whitesands and towards the north end of St Brides Bay on St Davids Peninsula, slip around to the fishing village and harbour of Solva to drop jaw at the views around the Griben coastal walk. Pick up freshly dressed Pembrokeshire crab at the village seafood shop for later back at the barbie: three pubs, two cafés and two restaurants are around too for a pitstop. The Puffin Shuttle coastal bus goes from Solva to Britain’s smallest city St Davids three times a day in summer: get the early one to see the cathedral properly as well as Bishops Palace beside it.
