  • Small family-run Pembrokeshire site with dog-friendly grassy pitches
  • A 35-minute walk from Saundersfoot and a five-minute drive to Tenby
  • Barbecues welcome; farm shop within five minutes' walk
Gold-sand coves, limestone stacks and fishing harbours… get your Pembrokeshire fix at Crane Cross Camping Park. Based just 35 minutes’ walk from Saundersfoot, where the sandy cove has shallow bathing water, this small family-run site has a splendid location alright. Tenby, a popular Pembrokeshire seaside town with a castle, 13th-century walls and a harbour where boats depart to Caldey Island, is only five minutes’ drive away too. Dog-friendly? Indeed. Barbecues welcome? That too.Handy facilities? Of course. There’s a fridge and freezer in case you want to store fresh eats from the farm shop five minutes’ walk away. Other on-site facilities are handy and include ladies and gents’ toilets, handwashing basins, unisex showers, shaver points, washing-up facilities, an ironing board and hot and cold water. For an additional cost, there’s also a washing machine, dryer and payphone available. For the kids, meanwhile, there's a sand play area where they can dig, explore and make friends. The site only accepts families and couples, which keeps things nice and peaceful. Dogs are welcome too as long as they're kept on leads… It's a cracking location for walks for canines (or humans), with the countryside and coast so easily accessible.

What customers say

Crane Cross gets kudos for its great location, cleanliness, and roomy pitches. Guests love the friendly, helpful owners and handy amenities like a communal fridge/freezer and a fun play area. While the site is generally neat, some reviews mention dated but clean restrooms. A few guests noted road noise on some spots and wished for updated facilities. Liked A lovely summertime stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at this caravan place! It was clean, peaceful, and perfectly located — just a short distance from Tenby and Saundersfoot. A wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the summer by the sea. Highly recommend!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The quietness of the area, the hot showers and facilities, the fridge and freezer added to use freely, the playground that my boys loved going to, the new friends that both my sons made playing football, the secure and amazing dog area, the short walk across to a local farm shop that also sells fresh milk/shakes, the free drinking water taps that were around the camp, the park benches that were next to our tent, the ability to choose where to camp (non electric), short distance drives out to visit places.

Disliked The boys and dog crying when we had to leave.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Freedom to choose your pitch. The toilets and shower facilities were both practical and spotless. The illuminated, well labelled and tidy recycling and washing up area as well as area with washing machine, dryer and separate fridge and freezer. All spotless. A lovely relaxed, quiet and natural site and not too twee. Also great for families and dog owners with designated dog field.. Ideal for a walk into Saundersfoot and well placed for all areas of south Pembrokeshire.
Lovely owner who helped us in the first day with a ladder and spanners to fix something on the van. Lovely touches like high quality washing up liquid in the sink area and hand soap provided in the toilets.
We would love to return to this campsite.

Liked What a beautiful site and so much to like. Friendly welcome, personal text sent on the day to let us know where to pitch, wonderful extra touches like fire pits to hire. Plenty of hot water for showers, cheap laundry facilities, well maintained spaces. Plenty of space for washing up, beautiful hand-wash in the toilet blocks. Also loved the swing ball! We will certainly be back.

Disliked Nothing!

Liked Communication from the owners before arrival, thought this was a very personal touch and saved having to wait to be directed to your pitch.
Owner also came and thanked us personally for booking. Again this made us feel welcome on the site.

Pitch size was ample for our twin-axle caravan.

Just a short 5 mins drive into Saundersfoot with Tenby about 10mins. Didn’t walk into Saundersfoot as the hill back up is a bit of a challenge.

Overall our stay was good and would stay again.

Disliked Showers do need an upgrade. However they are clean and very hot so it wasn’t an issue for us.

Local attractions

Pembrokeshire has got a few tricks up its sleeves for those who want a thrill (or two, or three). Oakwood Theme Park (15 minutes’ drive) has rollercoasters and water rides, including loop-the-loops or family-friendly coasters. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (10 minutes) is its softer alternative, with over 750 animals and vintage fairground rides. Paintball, golf, archery, fishing… get your dose at Heatherton World of Activities (five minutes). If you’re still craving animals, however, Manor Wildlife Park (five minutes) has a walking safari where guests can have a go at feeding the wallabies. You bet that Pembrokeshire also has some gorgeous coastal path sections, with excellently clear waters and geological formations. The Green Bridge, Elugug Stacks and The Cauldron are all half an hour’s drive away, as is Saint Govan’s Chapel by the sea and the sandy Broad Haven South beach (half an hour), backed by a lily pond.
