  • Peaceful Pembrokeshire countryside stay with family-friendly pitches
  • A 25-minute drive from the coast and the Preseli Hills; lake nearby
  • Firepits permitted; walking distance from a pub and country park
Pining for a peaceful stay somewhere in the Pembrokeshire countryside? At The Land Campsite, there’s such a break in store, in a tip-top spot for walking, cycling, whizzing around on theme park rides (Oakwood is 20 minutes’ drive away) or watersports (on the coast or at Llys y Frân Country Park & Reservoir, five minutes’ drive away). This peachy family-friendly place is in a central location, 25 minutes’ drive from the coast and the Preseli Hills. But before you get properly stuck in, you might want to make the most of the pastimes on site… perhaps simply relaxing with the countryside scenery and views of the Preseli Hills and Llys-y-Frân or letting your firepit take centre stage in the evening. As this is quite a rural patch of land, Haverfordwest is the nearest town, 15 minutes’ drive away. You’ll be able to gather together any goods you need for your stay or call into one of the restaurants or pubs for a drink or something to eat. The site’s local is even closer – the nearest inn is 35 minutes’ walk away, so you won’t need to use the car if you don’t want to. Farm shops also feature around this area, which makes picking up some fresh farm produce pretty easy – the closest is five minutes’ drive away.

Local attractions

While water might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you picture rural Pembrokeshire, it has its fair share of water-based activities. To start with, there are coasteering and kayaking activities around the handsome Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy (40 minutes’ drive) and the traditional seaside surfing and swimming to dabble in at Barafundle Bay (45 minutes). While you’re on that wild swimming roll, the Rosebush quarry (15 minutes) is a good place to cool off after tackling the walking trails. There’s many a cove to take a plunge in along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path (25 minutes) too, no matter how hot you get. There are activities on land too, of course, and that’s true of Llys y Frân Country Park & Reservoir (40 minutes’ walk or five minutes’ drive), where there are footpaths, mountain biking trails, fishing and playgrounds. Preseli Hills (half an hour) is another prime walking area, while Wood Park Off-Road (five minutes) will take things up a notch with its off-road trails. Got the full family with you? Perhaps a trek at Pembrokeshire Llamas (15 minutes), horse riding at Nolton Haven (25 minutes) or the rides at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (25 minutes) will keep the kids nicely entertained.
