  • CAMC members-only site a five-minute drive from Amroth, Pembrokeshire
  • Saundersfoot 10 minutes’ drive; Picton Castle Gardens half an hour
  • Enclosed field with electricity; Pembrokeshire Coastal Path nearby
Gather the entire family (yes, that includes your beloved four-legged companion), make sure your Caravan and Motorhome Club membership is up to date, and head to the southern coast of Pembrokeshire. Sitting a five-minute drive from the village of Amroth, Cwmrath Farm Certificated Location is in a sweet, sweet spot for an active coastal holiday – or a relaxing one, of course. Touring pitches at Cwmrath Farm occupy a large fenced-off field skirted by tall hedges and dotted with wildflowers. They come with electric hook-up; water is also available, along with a waste-disposal facility, not to mention a feeling of privacy accompanied by melodious birdsong and the occasional sighting of local wildlife. Woodland walks can be accessed directly from the site, and Amroth itself marks the start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Other local walking destinations include National Trust - Colby Woodland Garden (about half an hour on foot, or a five-minute drive), where bluebells and daffodils share space with relics of Wales’s industrial past; and East Williamston Jubilee Park and Nature Trail (10 minutes’ drive), a dog-friendly nature reserve. Your dog might also like to run and splash around the rockpools at Telpyn Beach (five minutes); if you’re hoping to have a swim, it might be better to head to Saundersfoot, which tends to have calmer waters and also has more facilities, including toilets and several cafés.

Liked Lovely quiet small site. Very dog friendly. Walks directly off the site. Matt was very helpful. Not far from a number of different beaches. Close to a few dog friendly pubs for a drink and an evening meal. If we are in the area again we will definitely be back.

Liked We booked in here a couple of hours before we arrived. Rang the number on the gate, got a text shortly afterwards welcoming us. This was a field with an EHU and disposal area, we paid £15 a night. Some pitches are on a slope. We spoke to both owners at some point, Matt helpfully lent us some Allen keys needed for the caravan, Roxy allowed us to throw her ball for her.
Very quiet location, within walking distance of Amroth beach, although it’s a killer hill on the way back! Also close to Colby woodlands garden (National Trust) and there is a Co-op in nearby Kilgetty. If you want a break from the Maddening crowd, this place is ideal!

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Treat the kids to a day at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (five minutes’ drive), where they can meet the animals and feed the resident goats, sloths and giraffes. There’s also a fairground with a Ferris wheel and classic vintage rides, plus a play area with an adventure course. Looking for new ideas for the backyard? You might find inspiration at Picton Castle Gardens (half an hour), where highlights include a collection of rhododendrons and a Walled Garden with a pond. While you revel in the greenery, the kids might prefer to spend some time in the adventure playground… For the mother of all gardens, head to the National Botanic Garden of Wales | Gardd Fotaneg Genedlaethol Cymru (35 minutes), which centres on an impressive glasshouse designed by architect Norman Foster. The complex also includes the British Bird of Prey Centre, with displays by gorgeous owls and raptors.
