General

  • Serene park with spectacular views of the surrounding rural landscape
  • Just over 10 minutes’ drive to Newcastle Emlyn and 30 to Penbryn beach
  • On-site catering van serving food, fires allowed and wifi available

To take in top views over the green landscape of west Wales while warming yourself by the campfire, the 17-acre Pant Y Meillion Campsite in Carmarthenshire could very well be the place to go... and you'll be well fed here too, via the catering van serving breakfast and snacks.

And for getting out into the rural surrounds (perhaps with said snacks stuffed in your pockets for later)? This smallholding is also a stellar space to settle in at, as it's a 10-minute drive from the Teifi Valley Railway for chugging around the area by train and about half an hour in the car to the Wales Coast Path and its beaches.

A top seaside pick in the region is Cardigan, 30 minutes’ drive away, which leads to a coastal farm park for chances to spot dolphins just off the River Teifi’s estuary. Other beaches within close proximity include the National Trust’s Penbryn 30 minutes’ drive away, the small sandy cove of Mwnt (40 minutes), the beachside village of Aberporth (half an hour) and popular Poppit Sands (40 minutes).

Kids after more than just places to paddle? Oakwood – the biggest theme park in Wales – is 50 minutes’ drive and the animal-petting antics at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo are around the same distance.

Facilities at Pant Y Meillion Campsite include a shower and toilet block renovated in 2019, a washing-up area, free wifi, chemical waste and grey water disposal, and fresh water.

Loved it all, great site, lovely views, good, helpful owners. Lots of very clean, on site facilities, toilets, showers, wash up. Food van on site, good food at good prices. All in all a great site to stay at, no kids and a pretty grown up camp site. Will certainly be going back. 5 stars :)

    Everything.
    Excellent value for money.
    The electric grass pitch.
The remoteness in rural Wales, but close enough to some great tourist sites and venues.
Great managers who made us feel very welcome.
Fantastic food van on site with a good menu and excellent prices.
Good but basic facilities-hot and constant electric showers and no extra charge.
Currently using portaloos, however, these are very efficient and kept very clean.
Having frequently stayed on 5 star ‘glamping’ sites we would certainly return to Pant Y Meillion for the quality of service, the basic but very good facilities and the location.

    Disliked:

The campsite/field is on quite a slope and we pitched our tent across it and should have pitched down the slope. Totally our responsibility but worth noting if you’ve got a big tent.
The grass is a little long and so our feet got very wet (Wales does have its share of rain) on the walk to the toilets & showers. Worth investing in a pair of wellies or something similar.

Excellent clean facilities. Friendly owners who were very helpful. Very clean shower and toilets, extra washing up room with access to USB charge points for smaller items, (Phones, Power banks). Nice and quiet, excellent location. On site food trailer very convenient, lovely bacon bap in the morning. Hard standing parking for motorbikes.

    Disliked:

Not a fault of anyone, but due to a lot of rain the main entrance became a bit boggy, and difficult to negotiate motorbike, but owners allowed access via there own driveway, so again a great thumbs up for them.
