Hardstanding pitches

  • Small modern motorhome park on the edge of Pendine village
  • A five-minute walk from Pendine Sands and Museum of Land Speed
  • Fully serviced hardstanding pitches; dogs welcome
Pendine Sands is famed as the location for several land speed records – and it’s likely you’ll want to get a move on with booking when you see the location of Hafan Y Mor Motorhome Park. This small but well-equipped Carmarthenshire motorhome park is on the edge of the village of Pendine, looking out over green space to the sea beyond. That stunning seven-mile stretch of sand (where Malcolm Campbell and Parry Thomas set their world records) is about five minutes’ walk away, with rock pools to poke about in and coast path walks to show you some more of the scenery. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards in summer so it’s a good place for a family beach day. This is an excellent location for a coastal break – as well as being so close to the beach, the park also has lots of handy village facilities within a few minutes walk, including cafés, pubs and shops. The village has a playground and an activity centre that can help you organise watersports, surf lessons and land-based activities like archery. The Museum of Land Speed is a short walk away as well, and there are often races or events held on the beach (Hot Rod racing, motocross and even the odd world record attempt…) Things have been kept nice and simple on site – it’s a self-check-in site with key code entry and well-marked hardstanding pitches. Each pitch has an electric connection and a picnic table, and there are chemical disposal and motorhome service points to help keep your vehicle in working order.

What customers say

Great motorhome-only spot near Pendine beach, shops, & restaurants. Level, hardstanding pitches with hookups are appreciated. Basic facilities (no toilets/showers), but a quiet stopover. Some road noise & a tricky grey water disposal point noted. Good, well-kept base for exploring.

Powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked The location, close to the beach and the village.
Well set out, clean and tidy site.

Disliked The grey water drain point is raised a few inches above ground so needs a bucket or hose pipe. This is a bit annoying as it is a motorhome only site.

Liked Good sized level pitches with hard standing. Electric and water shared between two pitches. Close to the beach and shops, only a 5 mins walk at most. Had a problem with the electric when we arrived on a Saturday, phoned the number supplied and left a voicemail. Within 15mins a very pleasant gentleman arrived and sorted it out, can’t ask for better than that.

Disliked Nothing, everything was as described

Liked Location is good as it is easy to walk to the beach and local amenities, it is on the edge of MOD land so it is empty and wild on the beach side of the site. The pitches are not too close together and well maintained. Easy access and good locations for electric points and taps. The beach is glorious & a tiny cafe called Point Cafe had THE best coffee and view.

Disliked The road can be noisy, so if you have a choice, park on the beach side. It would make it a much better site if there were just a couple of lavatories. The biggest downside is that it is only available to book online and, if as we were, just passing and decided to stop as it was nearly empty, there was no signal and no telephone numbers to contact anyone. We finally managed to send an email but this took a long time for a reply to come back. A system on the gate where one could assess space and pay would be more helpful.

Powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Very clean.
Level bay.
Water hook up.
Electrical hook up.
Waste disposal for grey waste and toilet waste.

Disliked The Alcatraz or prisoner of war camp vibe because of the fencing protecting against the Pendine MOD land.
One corner however did have some hedging shrubs which the birds loved.
I would advise if possible to plant hedging along the complete fencing boundary line to improve the feel of the site.

No showers.
No Toilets. ( yes we were aware they were not available - just stating dislikes ).

More picnic tables per pitch would be advantageous also.

Not that this affects us but no good for children as the entrance only has a barrier for security adjacent to the main trunk road. So not safe for little children under 12 I’d say.

Liked Simple and straightforward booking system, you book, you get a code for the barrier and that’s it. Location is close to all the main areas and the beach. There are no toilets on site however there are facilities close by near the restaurants and shops (9am to 9pm). Several restaurants nearby offering a variety of good food. It’s a great location for one night or a lot more. There is some road noise, although limited to the daytime, very quiet at night.

Disliked Nothing, it’s a great place to stop.

Liked Fab site with level pitches, easy access to beach, clean site. Our favourite motorhome site. Basic no frills but very well maintained. Communication excellent. Easy level access with good sized pitches. The best motorhome site we have ever come across

Disliked Last time we went. After pitching up on very 1st pitch in the corner, we found the grass full of black fishing wire and fishing hooks but this isn't the fault of the site but of the previous occupants. Wifi and internet signal is none existent

Local attractions

A stroll around the Museum of Land Speed (five minutes’ walk) is a must – even if you’re not particularly into cars, the interactive exhibits bring to life the stories of the various world records that have been set or attempted here. Although you probably won’t be attempting any of your own land-speed records, there are plenty of options around this area for outdoor adventures. Morfa Bay Adventure (20 minutes’ walk) is a great hub for coasteering, surfing and other watersports, or you could gallop around the area on outings from Marros Riding Centre (five minutes’ drive) or try all sorts of activities (including go-karting, archery and adventure golf) at Heatherton World of Activities (25 minutes). Other days out nearby might take you to Laugharne (10 minutes) for the castle and Dylan Thomas Writing Shed, to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (20 minutes) for animal encounters, to Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (25 minutes) for a heritage-themed stroll or to Tenby (half an hour) for some more excellent beaches and boat trips.
