Level pitches with fantastic views and peaceful surroundings

  • Peaceful Carmarthenshire site with mountain views all around
  • A five-minute drive to Dolaucothi Gardens; 15 minutes to Lampeter
  • Alpacas and goats to meet on site; easy access from A482
Yes, you’ll be able to look up at the mountains when you stay at Carmarthenshire’s Mountain View Camping – and you’ll also be able to get out and explore them easily. This well-located site has a peaceful and secluded vibe, but it’s only a short way off the A482 for straightforward journeys to nearby trails including those in the northwestern corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Pitch numbers have been kept quite low at this relaxed site, but you won’t be short of company as you’ll be able to hang out with a friendly gang of goats and alpacas who live in the pen next door. There’s often wildlife to spot both at ground level and up in the air, along with access to lots of footpaths to take walks nearby. Horse riding, mountain bike trails and fishing lakes are close by too. Simple facilities on site include toilets, fresh water and rubbish/recycling bins, and you’re welcome to bring along a barbecue to cook your dinner. Lampeter, five miles away, has several shops and supermarkets where you can pick up supplies. The area has a few pubs for food and drinks if you’d rather head out.

What customers say

A peaceful setting with stunning mountain views. Bell tents are clean & well-equipped, though one found the bed uncomfortable. Friendly owners & animals are highlights. Basic portaloos, with future upgrades planned. Some experienced muddy conditions.

Bell tent

Liked Had a great time, the bell tent was clean and spacious. There was a stove with kettle for a very welcome cuppa, a gas heater, and a dining table outside. Facilities basic but as described- portaloo, access to water , bins.
Plenty of room each side of the provided bed for us to set up each of our kids' camp beds.
Karen came to chat with us and was very lovely and friendly... as were the alpacas, which our boys fell in love with!
A very peaceful setting.

Bell tent

Liked Everything, peaceful, stunning views. We went for a peaceful night away and that's exactly what we had. There were alpacas and goats in the next field who came to say hello. The neighbours were friendly and came for a chat but also gave us some space to do our own thing-they had 3 dogs who were super friendly to. The bell tent was clean and very spacious with everything we needed apart from a barbecue. There was a shop and a pub nearby, will definetely visit again.

Disliked I didn't find the bed very comfortable.

Bell tent

Liked Tent was very clean and spacious. With all the basic camping equipment you need. The alpacas and dogs are a lovely addition to the site. Cocoa will make himself known on arrival and Harley was a great hit with the kids (9&13). Owners are very friendly and accommodating. Site is well kept and clean. We also bought some fresh eggs on the last day to take home with us. The view of the mountains is lovely at sunrise. Will definitely be returning.

Bell tent

Liked Absolutely beautiful location. Lovely Alpacas on site and the bell tent was immaculate. Lovely little touches like a gas cooker and a couple teas/coffees/biscuits provided. Lovely owner. No wifi - good phone signal.

Disliked Only downside were the toilet facilities. Just a porta-loo.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Really lovely spot with great views and very peaceful. Very friendly couple running the site with some upgrades in mind. Loos are basic portaloos at the mo but they have plans for a shower and loo block. Was extremely wet when we were there after some very heavy rain. Our van got a bit bogged down leaving and they were very good in helping us out. Friendly alpacas and goats...

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Owners were friendly and helpful.

Disliked Field was very muddy and I had to be towed in and out, although their small truck struggled to move my campervan.

From the manager: Sorry you were not total satisfied but we are listed as a quiet campsite. The heavy rain was beyond our control.
