Grass pitches with sea views

  • Small, quiet site with sea views; two miles from the coast at Llanelli
  • Within half an hour's drive of the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons
  • Great cycling access to Swiss Valley Trail and Millennium Coastal Path
A well-placed Carmarthenshire site with stunning sea views, Caemawr Camping and Caravan Site is a small, quiet spot close to Llanelli. There's plenty to do around and about – coastal strolls along the Millennium Coastal Path, taking in the Swiss Valley Trail's green vistas by bike or driving out to the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons are all options on the table. You can expect flat and level grounds for pitching up on, as well as a modern shower and toilet block. Other than that, you'll be left to your own devices – it's up to you whether you opt to set up a barbecue, kindle a campfire, cycle five minutes down the road for dinner at the nearest pub or take the dog (if you've brought one) out for walks on the beach. Speaking of the sea, Caemawr Camping and Caravan Site is roughly two miles from the nearest stretch of coast, where local highlights include Llanelli beach, the Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club and Sandy Water Park, a peaceful nature watching spot brimming with birdlife.

Power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Loved the views from the lovely level hardstanding pitches

Disliked Our Sat nav brought us in a horrible way so didn't enjoy the drive in

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. Clear directions were sent when the booking was made to avoid the country lanes. It’s a shame that you did not follow the directions given as driving in the country lanes could have been avoided

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked At Caemawr Camping we found our rest,
Where sea views shine and sunsets bless.
Dawn and Nigel, with hearts so wide,
Greet you like family, right by your side.

When our old truck coughed and gave up the fight,
Nigel stepped in and made things right.
Two jump starts later, we were back on our way,
Their kindness turned trouble into a brighter day.

Showers steaming, spotlessly clean,
Toilets fresh and a peaceful scene.
Each pitch cared for, grass trimmed neat,
A hidden haven where calm and comfort meet.

If you want warm water, views and grace,
And hosts who make it a better place,
Caemawr’s the gem we’ll rave about,
A Welsh retreat, without a doubt.

Power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Love the flat concreate pitch .. not having to worry about levelling was appreciated as the weather was miserble.. clean toilet and shower.. get signal to pick up wifi .. power and water available on the hardstanding.when leaving the site turn left .. go up the lane and then turn right.. the lane leads to the village with a chineese.. shops.. and a great pub The Phil Bennett which has excellent food and a friendly welcome.. the ribs are delicious

Disliked Normally stay further up the field and had no issues previously with power and water but this time we had the plot next to.the toilet block... and the water point was further than our hose would reach so had to modify our hose to add an extension...so bring a very long hose...

Quiet and clean facilities, hard standing pitches were level.

Power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lots of space, facilities were clean and tidy. Hard standing pitch was level. No issues. Showers were good.

Disliked Nothing to dislike… if it ever got busy only having a couple of toilets could be an issue, but wasn’t a problem when I stayed.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. We have three showers and three toilets and feel that they are quite sufficient

Local attractions

Exploring the Llanelli area is perhaps best done by bike – you can pedal up to the peaceful Lliedi Reservoirs (15 minutes' cycle) for a picnic before heading back to base, or make a day of it and continue on to the National Botanic Garden of Wales (an hour and 30 minutes by bike or half an hour by car), where those arriving on two wheels get a discount on the price of entry. Next, you might like to stretch your legs by heading to the Brecon Beacons (from 30 minutes' drive) – make sure to pack sensibly sturdy footwear if your plans involve top treks like the Ystradfellte Four Waterfalls Walk (an hour) or hikes around Carreg Cennen Castle (45 minutes). The national park is also home to less energetic attractions like the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (50 minutes) and the Brecon Mountain Railway (an hour). Yet another option would be to take a driving tour of the gorgeous Gower Peninsula (from 30 minutes) to soak up some of South Wales' best seascapes. The sweeping sands of Rhossili Bay (50 minutes) will probably be part of most itineraries, but for something a little different you could also head to the Swansea side of the peninsula for jetski safaris around Oxwich Bay (40 minutes).
