Primitive cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked A real gem of a site. The owner met us and showed us everything we needed to know. Facilities were excellent and a great covered games area was available. Our pitch was on a level area looking out across the valley

Liked There is only one word to describe quarry lodge and that is …. Perfection!
Everything i could ever want in a campsite it was perfect.
Linda goes above and beyond to ensure that you are welcome and enjoy yourself through every moment of your stay! She took time to welcome us and offered recommendations of places to visit carefully going thought the local map marking off places to go. If you forget anything or need anything she is there offering what ever she can.
The site itself is stunning and beautifully organised and clean. We couldn’t believe how lovely the wash facilities are it’s like she must clean all day every day they are spotless. The entire family will take time to talk with you sharing experiences and stories especially her son Charlie my boys loved to hear his farming stories and couldn’t believe some of them they were so cool!
This was a complete random find from a Facebook recommendation and we couldn’t believe our luck!
The site is calm quiet and for a family who has a manic crazy life was perfect for us to sit back and relax.

Disliked Absolutely nothing!!!!!

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything. We had an electric pitch and as soon as we arrived this campsite had a good vibe about it. The owner (Linda) is the perfect host. Totally put us at ease and so helpful. One of our neighbours said they travel up from Margate for two weeks at a time (thats an 8hrs drive) to stay here.. their fourth time in a row. Says it all. Lovely views across the hills. Fantastic neat clean facilities and our kids (even us big kids) really enjoyed the games area. We will be back.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The pitches are very generous in size and it’s not over crowded. Linda is a fabulous host, very welcoming and helpful. My 2 year old daughter loved to see the horse each morning and also loved going for walks around the campsite. The game room is also a great addition, especially if someone is coming with older children. You can also buy some free range eggs. Toilets are always very clean and we never had to wait in a queue to use the toilet or a shower.

Disliked My husband disliked the amount of flies that there were, but it’s expected when there are farm animals near the campsite. It didn’t bother me though.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked A great little farm campsite with everything you need for a relaxed, quiet stay in the countryside. Linda is very friendly and helpful. The games area was an added bonus for the little one. Showers/Toilets were very spacious and clean. Pitch was hardstanding and flat. Everything we needed for a stop over as we were passing through further south.

Local attractions

History buffs should surely be fans of this part of Carmarthenshire: Dinefwr, Llansteffan and Kidwelly castles are all within about half an hour, the National Trust has some fab properties nearby (Dolaucothi Gold Mines and the house and park at Dinefwr are musts) and you can nab a glimpse into the past under someone else’s steam by climbing aboard the Gwili Steam Railway, 10 minutes away. Prefer to get out and about for a stroll in nature? The National Botanic Garden of Wales, where you can traipse through acres of countryside, formal gardens and nature reserve, is a little over 10 minutes from base, and the spectacular Aberglasney Gardens are within 15. If all the rural is beginning to grate, head straight for Swansea (45 minutes away) for a taste of the urban – there are museums, markets, pubs and restaurants to check out, as well as plenty of shops. Make a 45-minute beeline for Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo or Oakwood Theme Park when the kids start to whine, and let their pumping adrenaline get them back on side.
