  • Small family farm surrounded by nature in West Wales
  • Two miles from the National Botanic Garden of Wales
  • Farm animals, small duck pond and wildlife area on site
Day at the beach or day in the Brecon Beacons? How about both? Cracking Carmarthenshire site Coedhirion Farm is in a mighty handy location between the two, allowing you to pick freely between coast and countryside (and also castles, theme parks and botanic gardens) on a West Wales whim. This family-friendly place is on a working farm just off the A48 (excellent news for those who fear manoeuvring their van along little lanes) and a leisurely 10-minute stroll from a couple of country pubs in Llanddarog (excellent news for
well, just about anyone). There’s also a post office down in the village; not such exciting news perhaps, until you learn that they serve a rather fine brekkie. Carmarthen is around a 10-minute drive away for restaurants, supermarkets and other shops. Peaceful times beckon here: woods and wildflowers are all around, and there’s a dedicated wildlife area on site, with a small duck pond and nature trails for the nippers to follow. You’re also welcome to pet and feed the farm’s Limousin cattle and Texel and Coloured Ryeland sheep (pick your animal snacks wisely though, and don’t forget to wash your hands afterwards). Kids chomping at the bit for a runaround? There’s plenty of space for ball games at the grassy play area. Amenities include water taps, electric hookups and a chemical disposal point, plus there's a well-maintained shower and toilet block that’s won plaudits from previous guests (‘cleaned so many times each day we lost count’ says one).

What customers say

This well-kept, friendly farm campground gets high marks for its excellent, clean facilities, including large family shower rooms. Guests enjoy the peaceful vibe, farm animals, and convenient location near village pubs and shops. Most had a great stay, though some heard occasional A48 traffic noise or had minor check-in/pitch issues. Owners are welcoming and it's a good value.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We are so sorry that your stay with us by spoilt by dogs barking.
Normally our site is very, very peaceful. If you had contacted us we could have moved you to a different area of the site.
Fortunately, although numerous dogs stay with their owners in our site this is a very rare occurrence.

Liked Brilliantly located site to see south/mid wales.
Clean, friendly site, big plus that they will except continental touring caravans.
Near a very welcoming village with a few pubs and shop.
Had a cracking meal in the Mansel Arms, very friendly locals and great pint.

Liked We loved our stay at Coedhirion farm! The toilet and shower facilities were excellent and always clean, plenty of room in their when you're showered 2 young children.
They're are loads of animals to see and for the children to engage with and feed. So peaceful and relaxing, you really feel well looked after as the owners are really welcoming.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The toilet block/showers were diligently cleaned a number of times a day. The fridge and washing up facilities were a bonus. We liked the pigs and rabbits next to the camping field. The post office village shop were happy to take things back for us to collect at the farm house. Welcoming staff/ owners. Location for travelling great. Short walk to the village for pub and shop.

Disliked The site is near to the road and I did need to wear ear plugs to sleep. I also wasn’t exactly sure where to camp, although the field was for 3 tents one tent seemed to be in the middle of 2 pitches leaving either one with a slight slope that was quite small or one that was closer to the other tents in between.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
I did speak to your daughter twice about your proposed pitch as we could have found you an alternative. I asked her to inform you that I could come over and discuss it when you were ready as you were on a work conference call. So I am really sorry that you felt a bit cramped.
Our camping areas are quite big and we even had another 5 acre field nearby which could have accommodated you and would have been further from any traffic noise.
We hope to welcome you both here again.

Power optional grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Availability at last minute.
Location.

Disliked Muddy track to facilities after rain overnight
Pitches VERY close together

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Lynne,

Thank you for your review but we were very disappointed with your reasons for assessing our site with 6/10.

Last weekend was our busiest weekend of the year so far. You requested a pitch at the last minute. We allocated a space which has been used by caravans and motor homes all summer without any complaints. It was not our best pitch but it was available at the last minute due to a cancellation.

As for the puddles on the way in, it had been a very wet day and we are only a small farm site.,We cannot afford the tarmac of larger sites but we continue to improve our entrance as we can afford it. Small businesses like ourselves have struggled with rising prices following Covid and the hike in energy prices.

Thank you for staying with us. We look forward to welcoming visitors in the future.

Local attractions

For a bit of local history, take the 10-minute drive into Carmarthen, a riverside town that’s got the remains of a Roman fort and amphitheatre, or to hilltop folly Paxton’s Tower for some fab views. You’re never too far from a castle in Wales of course, and that’s true here – Dinefwr, Llansteffan and Kidwelly castles are all within a half-hour drive for those that’d like to play at being knights. The site’s also less than two miles from the National Botanic Garden of Wales, a gorgeous site covering several themed gardens, the world’s largest single-span glasshouse and a tropical butterfly house. Kids after a bit more adrenaline? Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is a half-hour drive away. For beach days, it’s a half-hour drive to several miles of sand around Pembrey; walks in the Brecon Beacons are about the same distance away.
