Plenty of space

  • Well-maintained Anglesey pitches on a family-run working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Parys Mountain; 20 minutes to Benllech beach
  • Very short walk to local pub; five minutes' drive to Amlwch
Up at the top end of the Isle of Anglesey is generally a great place to take a peaceful holiday – but it gets even better when there’s a local pub a mere 50 yards away. And that’s the situation you’ll find yourself in when you stay at Cae Ffynnon, part of a working farm about five minutes’ drive inland from Amlwch. Pitches at this small family-run site are well maintained and well located, within easy reach of walking trails, bike paths, beaches, boat trips and the port at Holyhead (about half an hour’s drive away for those boarding a ferry to Ireland). And of course there’s that village pub a short walk away for a good feed and a welcome pint after your day out. You’ll have plenty of space to spread out on your pitch when you’re staying here, and you’ll be provided with some handy amenities including an electric hookup and picnic bench for each pitch. Shared facilities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area and you’re welcome to bring dogs and kids along for a stay here. Being so close to Amlwch means that you’ll have easy enough access to shops and places to eat (and the beach…) despite your peaceful immediate surroundings.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Spacious pitches, quiet location but easily accessible to reach other parts of the island.

Disliked Only 2 showers and 2 toilets on site and whilst we were there a toilet and shower was out of action - luckily not many on site so this did not cause us a problem.

Liked Spacious pitch could drive off pitch in the day. Great for a couple of nights stopover. Nice pub a couple of houses down. Very quiet and peaceful. Len who runs it made sure he was there to book us in

Disliked Only had 1 toilet out of 2 working which is in a small outhouse, I have a fear of spiders which was present in there while in there which put me off.

Liked Remote location

Disliked toilets showers and no reception but it was late in the season and we were the only ones on site.

From the manager: Thank you for you're low rating we just wished you had been truthfull in you're review. You did not mention the new shower block and you also forgot to mention that you left the site without making a payment, and we had to chase payment. If you are giving a review then please be truthfull and not reviewing a grudge. You will not be welcomed back on this site ever again.

Powered cement/asphalt campsite

Liked When we arrived were greeted by Len (the owner). He showed us the facilities and had a good chat with us before we set up Owner Len very nice & helpful.

We had a big pitch with electric with plenty of space between us and other families.

The Site ideal as a base for exploring Anglesey and within an easy drive of the coast and attractions. the site was well kept.
There is a pub that serves food within walking distance.

Shower & toilet need a bit of updating but they were clean and tidy the new ones currently being built. .

For the cost it was ideal we will be returning.

From the manager: Thank you we will look forward to seeing you again soon.

Liked Friendly & helpful owner, made us really welcome. Always available by phone.
Generous pitch with relaxed orientation.
Pub next door.
Views, horses and a cockerel that didn’t crow until about nine in the morning!
No traffic noise.
Good size shower with hooks and a shelf.
TV reception very good with antenna.

Disliked If you are a picky camper read all the reviews before booking.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This was a really chilled out, quiet and friendly campsite, sitting next to a farm with the most quirky goats ever. We were non electric but there was electricity options for those who needed to charge phones or take a shower. The campsite is a few minutes walk from the local pub, in the smallest village (one street). Its pretty and was perfect for what we wanted. There was loads of walks around the area and within an easy drive of the coast and attractions.
All the other people/families there were tidy and friendly.
We woke up to wild birds singing and on a walk saw red kites around the nearby lake.

Local attractions

A trip to Anglesey is usually all about the outdoor activities, and you’ll be well placed for those with a stay here. A drive of a little over five minutes will get you to a fishing spot at Llyn Alaw or a challenging but scenic round at Bull Bay Golf Club. Boats also head out from Amlwch harbour (five minutes’ drive) for sea fishing or just a bit of coastal sightseeing. There’s plenty of sightseeing to do on land too, whether you head out on the Anglesey Coast Path or aim for Parys Mountain (10 minutes’ drive) for a fabulous stroll through the colourful landscapes left behind by an ancient copper mine. The Copper Kingdom Centre (five minutes) will give you further insight into this aspect of the island’s past. And what about when you’d just like to sit on the beach, thanks very much? There’s a small stretch of sand at Amlwch, but you’d be better off heading to Lligwy (15 minutes), Church Bay (20 minutes) or Benllech (20 minutes) if you’re planning to spend a whole day swimming and sandcastle building.
