  • Quiet adults-only site with views over the Rhoscolyn straits
  • A 10-minute drive from Holyhead; 20 minutes from Traeth Llydan
  • Private harbour on the estuary for fishing and launching a canoe
Blue seas, peaceful canoeing and Isle of Anglesey coastal walks are just some of the treats in store on a getaway at Church Creek Campsite. On the south west side of the Isle of Anglesey, this quiet adults-only site is a great spot for non-motorised watersports and has splendid views over the Rhoscolyn straits, the big blue and Four Mile Bridge, making it a scenic base indeed… So, feel free to chill out as much as you like (over a barbecue, perhaps?). Thing is, you might not want to sit still too long, given that the site is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the estuary, where the Isle of Anglesey coastal path can be picked up (a splendid route which heads past coves, arches and sandy beaches). Even more conveniently, Church Creek Campsite has its own private harbour on the estuary where guests can whip out their fishing gear or launch a canoe, even at low tide. It’s part of a channel from an old mill, where the water doesn’t empty in the same way as the rest of the estuary. It’s deep enough to paddle your canoe to the sea and the fish like to feed there at low tide, making it a top spot for anglers when the rest of the estuary’s dry. Plane spotting might also feature on your itinerary here – half an hour’s walk will get you to RAF Valley, where various cool planes swoop in and out of the airport. However mucky you get on the local hikes and beaches (this includes the sandy Traeth Llydan, 20 minutes’ drive away, where canoe rental is available), the site has toilet and showers facilities for you to freshen up again.

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Really fantastic location. We loved the little creek just down the lane and watched the sunset from the rocks. Just stunning. We also loved the little hidden path that revealed itself at low tide. When we arrived the reception was closed but a quick phone call and we were greeted by the friendly owner.
Lots of space and freedom to camp where we fancied.

Disliked The facilities are basic, but adequate and clean. We did try to use the shower on the Sunday morning around 8.15 but it was closed. I’m sure that another quick call would have sorted it out straight away but with the shower being so far from my tent and not having my phone on me it felt easier not to bother. I’d recommend taking a phone down just in case in future!

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked A well kept site in a really quiet but handy location. The little beach few minutes walk away was a great place to reconnect with nature.

Disliked The RAF practicing some low level flying overhead while I was trying to have an afternoon nap.

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked We liked the remote-ness of the site. Very simple facilities but everything you needed (toilet, shower, washing up facilities, plenty of hot water!). Very quiet given it was an adult-only site which we appreciated having no children ourselves. Very close to a private beach (2min walk) and beautiful sunset views. Also not far from some other coastal attractions, beaches, and walks. Would highly recommend!

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Liked this site for going wild and having the estuary on your doorstep.
Basic toilets and kitchen area.

Disliked Shower block a bit further away from site.
As the winds were 30mph and gusts at 45mph there were no areas that were sheltered from the winds.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Excellent extremely quiet location with beautiful all round views of the coast and mountains. Easy to find and only minutes from the North Wales A55 expessway and 15 minutes from Holyhead. Very short stroll to the beach from the well maintained and managed camping field for canoeing swimming or birdwatching etc. Friendly and helpful owner and family. Highly recommend.

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Loved it! We had a wonderfully peaceful stay here. The site is fantastic for bird watching and access to lots of the island without being near a main road, it is also right on the coastal path so walks available right from the entrance! Every night of our stay we were treated to a gorgeous sunset over Holy Island :)

Disliked Our only criticism (if you can call it that) was the shower, there is only one shower so you can queue for a while waiting... but the site wasn't busy when we went so this wasn't a huge issue just inconvenient.

Local attractions

The Isle of Anglesey has a fierce reputation for beaches, so kick off your beach-hopping itinerary with snorkelling, surfing and kayaking at Traeth Llydan (20 minutes’ drive). Then, move onto the little Porth Diana Beach (15 minutes) for more peaceful snorkels, and Traeth Trearddur (10 minutes) for activities like windsurfing or dinghy sailing. Holyhead (10 minutes) is a hub of activity. Set sail from the harbour, pay a visit to the maritime museum or pick up another section of the Isle of Anglesey coastal path. Perhaps you’d like to check out the historical landscapes around these parts too? Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes) is the most well-known of the local landmarks. Left mid-construction, the ruins are an excellent spot for hide and seek or picnics. There are standing stones along the coastal path too.
