  • Small, friendly site next to the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path
  • South Stack Lighthouse 40 minutes' walk; 10 mins' drive to Holyhead
  • Stunning sea views from the site; well-behaved dogs welcome
Heading to Holyhead for a ferry? Pining for a peaceful stay and lots of lovely walks? Or just hoping to put yourself in prime position for the glorious sunset views at South Stack Lighthouse? Whatever it is that brings you to Holy Island, at the western tip of Anglesey, you’ll get a warm welcome and some stunning scenery at Anglesey Vacations. This small site is a couple of miles from Holyhead, in a particularly pretty spot with fantastic views out to sea and easy access to the coast path. South Stack is about five minutes’ drive away (or 40 minutes on foot) and the nearest sandy beach is around a mile away. Popular Trearddur Bay is about 10 minutes' drive away for more beach times, as is the centre of Holyhead for amenities including shops and restaurants (plus those ferries to Ireland, of course). Friendly owner Tom has chosen to keep things simple on site to help guests make the most of this fabulous natural setting – so while there's a handy wifi connection it’s important to note there are no communal toilet or shower facilities provided for touring guests (glamping options have their own ensuite facilities). One of the real selling points for this site is its proximity to the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path – and as dogs are welcome on site you'll be able to include your canine pal in your walking plans if you like.

Liked Lovely quiet site, we used as a stop over before getting a ferry to Ireland ideal as only 10 mins to the port. Very clean very tidy. Will definitely be returning.

Swn Y Mor 1 bedroom microlodge (hot tub)

Liked We were very satisfied with our stay — the place is spotless, with a fully equipped kitchen and a truly beautiful view. It feels wonderfully remote and peaceful, yet it’s still close to Holyhead where you can find everything you need. There are plenty of walking routes nearby, and it’s also dog-friendly, which we really appreciated.

This has become our favourite hideaway, and we’re already planning to return every year.

One small suggestion: adding some garden lights around the hot tub area, like at the other lodge, would make the experience even more special in the evenings.

Liked Beautiful location, views were amazing. Nice big pitches, loads of room. Owner came out to meet us, which was a nice touch. He recommended some lovely walks around the cliff tops. The views were stunning, especially the light house.

Disliked No toilet facilities, which we already knew about when booked. But they would have been a nice touch,

Liked Very quiet. Very clean and tidy. Very organised. We were late arriving. But our name was on the pitch so it was easy to find.

Disliked Paid for EHU. But lead did not reach our pitch. Our lead is 20m..

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I leave my own hook up extension lead at pitch 3 for guests to use as this pitch is about 25m from the hook up point. (other pitches are much closer) If guests have any issues onsite they simply need to call at the farmhouse and ask. If this had happened in this case then I could have easily resolved the issue but unfortunately this is the first I am hearing about it.

Liked Well maintained site with fabulous view offside snow Lighthouse. Well placed for visiting the circle huts.

Disliked Lack of facilities meant I only booked one night. Seems crazy that such a well maintained site did not have shower toilet or washing up facilities, the price did not reflect the lack of facilities. Essentially a place to park with water Elson and bins for £30. Was they had Wi-Fi? Was a very weak signal.

From the manager: As advertised. Our site is uniquely positioned in an area of outstanding natural beauty and SSSI. The site is set up for caravans, motorhomes and campervans carrying there own facilities, we provide hard standing, electric hook up, drinking water, chemical waste disposal, rinse water, waste/ recycling and free WiFi which most guests actually say is very good.

Local attractions

It’s all about the coast, isn’t it? The coast path passes very close by here, so you'll be able to walk to sandy Porth Dafarch beach in about 20 minutes or to the famous South Stack Lighthouse (a great birdwatching location as well as a popular sunset spot) in around 40 minutes. Trearddur Bay (10 minutes' drive) is another local favourite, with rockpools and a gently sloping sandy beach that’s great for swimming. Set your sights a little further afield for other coastal spots like Rhosneigr (25 minutes), Church Bay (half an hour) and Ynys Llanddwyn (45 minutes), reached via a walk through the pine forest. Although the coast path has many miles of stunning scenery, walkers may also like to head inland for trails through the colourful landscapes of Parys Mountain (40 minutes). Other Anglesey outings? How about snapping pics of the world's longest railway sign at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (half an hour), exploring the Grade I-listed Plas Newydd House and Gardens (35 minutes) or visiting the unfinished Beaumaris Castle (45 minutes)? You could also head back over to the mainland to walk in Eryri National park (40 minutes) or visit Conwy Castle (50 minutes).
