What customers say

Highly recommended, well-kept campsite by a beautiful river. Staff are friendly & helpful, facilities are clean with strong showers, and pitches are spacious. Great for kids with a playground & river access. Ideal location, though some note occasional noise & limited shop inventory.

2 bedroom cabin (family)

Liked The cabin was great, spacious with attention to detail in the decor.
We loved the stream and the campsite which was well maintained and clean.
The cabin and campsite are so beautiful.

Disliked As we took our dogs with us it would have been handy if we were able to enclose the cabin garden space with a little gate

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Facilities were clean throughout and in plenty. Pitches had loads of room due to all cars having to stay on the car park for the stay, it makes the site much safer for children running around. The river and park are great and the location is close to a lot of villages.

Disliked Nothing

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Stunning campsite in a beautiful location with a river (Aaron Seiont I think) running through/around. The Mill Bistro was a gem - superb food and lovely, friendly staff. Was great to be able to speak Welsh all weekend. Particular thanks to the polite young lad who checked us in and showed us to our plot - really helpful and knowledgable about the site.

Amenities were good - enough toilets and we didn’t have to wait for showers even though there were only two. Playground was lovely for the children, campsite was beautiful and really well maintained. Loved hearing owls hooting at night!

Having the cars parked away from the camping area was great and gave everybody more space, as well as feeling safer. Great idea! We didn’t use the seats and communal BBQ but will next time, it looked well set out.

In terms of location it is a short drive to Caernarfon, Llanberis, or Beddgelert. There are great days out for families locally (Greenwood etc.), and Fron Goch Garden Centre is well worth a visit for shopping or great food.

Disliked The only feedback I’d give was to perhaps put signs in the toilet cubicles reminding people that:
a) they can flush toilet paper (I suspect some was put in the bins due to the tissues and smell in some)
b) to sit on the toilet when using it (in some countries they use ‘squat’ toilets and not everybody who visits the UK realises that you can sit on ours!), and
c) to wipe the seats after use.

I should add that the cleaners were in there twice a day and the facilities were really clean, it’s just that not all people are tidy when using them so perhaps signage would help!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Amazing riverside location and love that you are allowed to swim/play in the river and it’s not just pretty to look at.

The site itself is well looked after with SO much to explore and do for kids which we loved! We enjoyed going off into the woods to look at the dens and the on site park is good quality compared to some others we’ve seen.

Disliked The fact the on site restaurant isn’t open during the week so we couldn’t use it our whole trip (stayed late Sunday - Thursday) although we are aware this is not the same business as the camp site, still a disappointment on arrival to find that out.

Shower facilities could be cleaner and updated on our side of the site. The cleaner wasn’t using proper equipment to mop, she had a broom with a tea towel attached… ? The ones under the restaurant are better quality but busier because of that reason.

Local attractions

There's simply stacks to do around here as well as Snowdonia mountains walks and climbs, like the beaches and coastline of the (also beaut) Isle of Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula, nature spotting, getting active on land or water, or investigating centuries' worth of Welsh history at nearby castles, museums and mines. The best known attraction of ancient and royal Caernarfon, a couple of miles from Riverside Camping, is ancient and strapping Caernarfon Castle, but you should/must also make time for its old and lovely pubs or for crabbing from the harbour walls; wherever you end up in this scenic city, take many photos. North Wales is steam railway country, so if you don't fancy getting to Snowdon's summit (Copa'r Wyddfa) under your own steam, take the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the peak instead from its base at Llanberis. Alternatively, the Welsh Highland Railway puffs the 25 miles from Caernarfon to Porthmadog; you should make many pub pitstops along the way.
