  • Ensuite adults-only pods on a bridleway in the North Wales countryside
  • A 25-minute drive from Chester; 45 minutes from beaches and Liverpool
  • Kitchen and outdoor barbecue provided; pub and shops 20 minutes’ walk
What’s a break like at Honeypot Hideaways, on a quiet bridle path in the North Wales countryside? Pretty sweet, it seems, judging by the luxury pods that look out over the surrounding fields and the Cheshire Plain. It’s just as nice out and about – think rural bridleways, cycling trails and footpaths, as well as tracks in the hills, forests or beaches (being so close to the A55, the north Wales coast is 45 minutes’ drive or so from the site). So, with the coast a car ride away and cities such as Chester (25 minutes’ drive) and Liverpool (45 minutes) also within reach, it doesn’t have to be all about the countryside. However, the countryside is certainly spectacular, and the site is on a system of quiet bridle paths and footpaths whenever you want to stretch your legs. Feed your adventures with a visit to Higher Kinnerton, the local village. It’s a 20-minute walk into the centre, where there’s a country pub for those tasty meals out, a café for quicker bites and small shops when you’d rather take advantage of your pod’s fully-fitted kitchen. What’s at your disposal? A sink, a two-ring induction hob, a microwave and a fridge-freezer. Outside the pods are reclining chairs, a picnic table and barbecue when you want to dine under the sky or sit back and relax. Built from sustainable Siberian larch, the pod interiors are just as cosy and include double beds, a TV, a full ensuite with a shower and central heating.

Local attractions

Where to set your compass to first? Perhaps Chester (25 minutes’ drive)? Once a Roman city, this place has a complete city wall, the UK’s oldest racecourse and Chester Zoo (25 minutes). Boats and other watercrafts can be taken out onto the river Dee for a different view of the city too. When your mind is set on the seaside, Rhyl (45 minutes) has all the traditional sort of entertainment, including donkey rides, amusement arcades and a big aquarium. Colwyn Bay (45 minutes) is another great coastal stretch, three miles long. You might be in search of mountain hikes and outdoor sports. Snowdonia National Park (an hour and 10 minutes) has plenty of that sort of stuff. Mountain biking, climbing and cycling are also easy to get into on the Wirral (35 minutes) peninsula. Further on, go paddleboarding around the Albert Docks in Liverpool (45 minutes) and end your session in a bar or dockside restaurant. If you’re big on shopping, Broughton Shopping Park (15 minutes) has shops, a cinema, takeaways and restaurants. A little further out is the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks (25 minutes).
