Well maintained campsite

  • Spacious and peaceful site with sea views in north Wales
  • A 10-minute drive from Talacre beach and 20 minutes from Rhyl
  • Within an hour's drive of ski centre, Surf Snowdonia and Zip World
Whopping big fields and phenomenal views in Flintshire? Whoop a big yes please to Ynyshir Farm, a small but supremely spacious site with sea vistas, 10 minutes’ drive from Talacre on the north Wales coast. Look one way towards the Dee Estuary and the Irish Sea; look the other and it’s all green fields giving way to hills and the mountains of Snowdonia beyond… this really is a cracking spot. Being on a former farm, there’s bags of space to stretch out and run about… or stretch out and do nothing, except watching the clouds scudding across the sky or the sun setting over the waves… Firepits are available to hire for outdoor cookouts and late-night natters: bring the dog along to sit around the fire too, as they'll be made most welcome on site. They’re welcome too on Talacre beach 10 minutes’ drive away, where shifting dunes, wide sands and a 17th-century lighthouse make a mighty good introduction to the area. If you like a livelier seaside experience, then Rhyl, with its amusements and aquarium, miniature railway and botanical gardens is 20 minutes away.

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Nice location

Disliked Amenities really far away with young children. Not enough toilets (2)/showers (3 family rooms and no single showers)for size of site.
Could only find one water point, at the top of the site.

From the manager: Hello

I relish the recent review. I don't normally respond as I'm a firm believer in opinion, but I had to remark on this one. The woman is a lunatic
Arrive on site decide area to pitch, 2.5 miles from toilets if you're a bit shy, of which there are 5 toilets and 3 showers, or meters away in close proximity if you're confident your aromas are friendly.

I'm no Clarkson, but i find it inexcusable that someone that hides behind anonymity that probably provides zero to society has the outright audacity to try and capture an audience that a small business like mine relies upon.
It's people like you, I think I'll leave it or I'm coming down to your level.

Few large fields but they weren’t level, views were ok…

Liked Few large fields but they weren’t level, views were ok

Disliked £86 pounds for 2 night we found a bit overpriced as there wasn’t anything special other than a field and few bathrooms on top.

From the manager: Hello

I can't wait to get to Siddow Common to see the views from there my mother's doing the butties now

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Really nice site with good facilities. The field for tents was huge and, probably due to when we visited, we were the only tent on it. It has a gentle slope but I'd guess there's plenty of pitching options which means it's not a problem. The view across to the beach and sea was lovely. The facilities were a few mins walk away but that wasn't a problem as we could park next to our tent. Whilst the most immediate roads were narrow it was well located with good road links close by.

Disliked The instruction that you should take nearly all of your rubbish home. I'd hope when you're paying to use a site that it should include the acceptance of a small amount of rubbish in the bins.

May not stay again only because we may not go to that area again

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Liked the view and the campsite was nice and quiet.

Disliked The bin area was a bit messy and the trek to the loos was a bit too long but it was clean in the showers.

Our first time in our new camper. We had a beautiful time.

Local attractions

Forever being invaded and defended, it’s castle country round here: 12th-century Denbigh Castle (20 minutes' drive) is at the ghostly ruin end of the scale, while mighty Conwy (40 minutes) looks like it’s still ready to see off a rebel army. If you’re into active stuff, try whizzing down the slopes of Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre (40 minutes), riding the waves on Surf Snowdonia’s ingeniously choppy practice lake (50 minutes), or whizzing at great height and velocity down the wires at Zip World Fforest and Penrhyn Quarry, both an hour away. Brought your walking boots? There’s an easy but rewarding trail to the waterfall at Dyserth,10 minutes away; for longer wanders in Snowdonia National Park, it’s an hour’s journey to the start of trails up Carnedd Llewelyn and to Aber Falls. (If you want the heights without straining the hooves, loaf over to Llanberis, an hour away and take the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the top of Wales’ highest peak; you could always walk back down…) If you like a bit of wildlife with your walks, trips up and around the Great Orme headland just above Llandudno (40 minutes) are often likely to be accompanied by sightings of sea birds and even seagoing porpoises. If you want to meet some more exotic beasts close up, it’s a similar distance to the sea lions, sea eagles and Sumatran tigers of the Welsh Mountain Zoo.
