  • Laidback site with 8.5 acres in Bryneglwys village
  • A 25-minute drive from Lake Bala and 40 minutes from Chester
  • Fresh eggs, friendly farm animals and a well-stocked outdoor bar
A chilled site in a quiet corner of Denbighshire, New Inn is a fine place to bag a relaxed rural break. With its splendid views, this popular little spot is within easy reach of attractions in and around Snowdonia, Chester and beyond. Although the former pub is permanently closed, it has a well-stocked outdoor bar called the Wobbly Dog selling draft beer and seasonal local produce. The peaceful park is also a five-minute stroll from Bryneglwys village centre, where the local stores and tea room are on hand to sort out any off-site food needs. Need to organise a bulk shop? Corwen (15 minutes' drive) is home to a bigger range of grocery shops. One of the big draws of New Inn is the number of simple pleasures to be had here, like collecting your own eggs from the site's friendly hens or watching the tame sheep frolicking through the grass. There's also ample room for setting up bonfires or barbecues and for roaming through the wilder parts of the 8.5-acre grounds. The facilities at this back to basics spot are low-key but well-maintained, with a toilet block that's got four toilets, four hot-water sinks, two showers and a washing-up sink. Phone charging is available too, to help you keep power up for your outings.

What customers say

Welcoming site with spacious, well-kept spots. Guests rave about friendly owners, clean facilities, and relaxed vibe. Highlights: animal feeding, campfires, on-site bar. Great for families; kids have safe play areas. Free-roaming chickens a hit! Minor points on toilet location and rustic facilities, but overwhelmingly positive with many eager to return.

Primitive grass tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Amazing family friendly site. This was our 2nd visit and won’t be our last. We have been to many campsites and this one is definitely our favourite. Everything from the kids feeding all the animals to the onsite bar has a great feel to it.

Primitive grass tent campsite (no pets)

Liked This place has to be one of the most welcoming camp sites ive ever stayed on. Lee and Michaela are such a genuine and nice couple. On arrival we were met by them and taken over to the field and we were able to chose where we wanted to pitch, all the pitches looked spacious and not too close together flat on the doggy field.
The facilities were just what you need showers, toilets and washing pots station. There was a in ase you forgot something area which had different bits and peices for you to borrow on your stay, which is a grest touch. There is outdoor bar that is very reasonably priced and also a communal fire pit where Lee supplied marshmallows and choccy biscuits and a drink each for the children all free of charge. He also took the children to feed the pigs, chicken and sheep which was just fabulous and they also got to choose a fruit tree and planted it! What a fabulous host.
Lee and Michaela have a personality where you want to be around them and they also manage to bring the campsite together, this is very hard to come by, as a result my girls made great friends with the children as did we with the parents.
The site is located in a secluded area where it is peaceful, 20 min drive to Llangollen.
We will deffinitely be coming back to this gem of a campsite. We wish Lee and Michaela every success you guys truly deserve it.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Extremely friendly site, the owners go above and beyond to accommodate, this includes being very welcoming to families.

My daughter had the time of her life, all the kids on the site made friends. Lee took them to feed the animals, plant trees & and put on a bonfire with marshmallows for them.

Couldn’t reccomend this site more, especially if you have young children.

Primitive grass tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Just come home from a lovely few days here. It is family friendly and the owners r lovely very friendly and make you feel welcome. We loved that the boys got to help feed the animals and that the chickens were free roaming almost had 1 in our tent haha. The toilets and showers are lovely and clean too. We also loved the funny signs that were all around to read and laugh at. And a added extra was the well stacked bar and shop and little hut for when its raining. We will definitely be back.also lee let the boys have a go of the tractor with a adult which the boys loved.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Just got home from a fantastic 3 night stay and will definitely be back at some point this season we were in the dog field which was a lovely area to the front of the site
Both Lee and Michaela are the most friendly and welcoming site owners I’ve ever met
The facilities are exactly what you need 4 proper toilets and some really good showers
The quirky signs everywhere show the owners personalities very well they are so down to earth
The bar is very reasonably priced (if not abit too cheap ) and the beer is ICE cold
Also has a small shop area for sweets ice cream and some extras like toiletries etc
Sadly we had lots of rain 🌧️ so didn’t get to enjoy the Saturday night bonfire but hopefully next time we visit the sun will shine

Local attractions

Get gallivanting through the green grounds of Erddig Hall (30 minutes' drive), Chirk Castle (30 minutes) or Ness Botanic Gardens (50 minutes) for fab floral displays, impressive buildings and splendid outdoor strolls. They have something else in common too: top-rated cafés where you can take afternoon tea in genteel garden surrounds. Those magnificently manicured spots strike a cracking contrast with wilder haunts like the shores of Lake Bala (25 minutes), Castell Dinas Brân (25 minutes) and Horseshoe Falls (20 minutes). There's also scope for giving your walking boots and mountain bikes a run for their money at Oneplanet Adventure (10 minutes), a forest visitor centre surrounded by a host of waymarked trails. Further full-on action can be found at the National White Water Centre (30 minutes), while those of a less intrepid temperament have Chester Zoo (40 minutes) not much further away. After making friends with sloths, elephants and jaguars, saunter down into the centre for a stroll down by the Dee or a laidback riverboat cruise.
