  • Laidback site with 8.5 acres in Bryneglwys village
  • A 25-minute drive from Lake Bala and 40 minutes from Chester
  • Fresh eggs, friendly farm animals and a well-stocked outdoor bar
A chilled site in a quiet corner of Denbighshire, New Inn is a fine place to bag a relaxed rural break. With its splendid views, this popular little spot is within easy reach of attractions in and around Snowdonia, Chester and beyond. Although the former pub is permanently closed, it has a well-stocked outdoor bar called the Wobbly Dog selling draft beer and seasonal local produce. The peaceful park is also a five-minute stroll from Bryneglwys village centre, where the local stores and tea room are on hand to sort out any off-site food needs. Need to organise a bulk shop? Corwen (15 minutes' drive) is home to a bigger range of grocery shops. One of the big draws of New Inn is the number of simple pleasures to be had here, like collecting your own eggs from the site's friendly hens or watching the tame sheep frolicking through the grass. There's also ample room for setting up bonfires or barbecues and for roaming through the wilder parts of the 8.5-acre grounds. The facilities at this back to basics spot are low-key but well-maintained, with a toilet block that's got four toilets, four hot-water sinks, two showers and a washing-up sink. Phone charging is available too, to help you keep power up for your outings.

Primitive grass tent campsite (large, no pets)

Liked New Inn has a lovely atmosphere emphasising everything wonderful about camping without trying to squash in as many people as possible. Just the right size to feel like you’re getting away from it all but still with other families for kids for to get to know and play. Amenities are well organized and kept clean. Great location for visiting lots of what Wales has to offer. The owners are friendly and very much present and hands on which is lovely to see and take the kids to feed the chickens, pigs and sheep as well as put on a bonfire for marshmallows. They are generous with their time and effort. The bar/shop is well run and very reasonably priced.

From the manager: Thanks for the great review but, mate, you need to watch 'Wayne's World', because pretty soon she is going to be buying you a gun rack!

Perfect site about 15 mins from Llangollen! Has everything you need?

Primitive grass tent campsite (large, no pets)

Liked This site is very well kept! Our pitch was mowed fresh for us on arrival (and we was even an hour earlier). Semi rustic approach on the outside but still looks great and everything inside is spit on.

Showers - spotless
Toilets - spotless
Inside seating area (new I think) - spotless.

The bar/coffee shop is well stocked! Even has a small selection of meat and camping essentials.

Even an place to charge phones, power banks, torches etc. Nice touch as it's a non hook up site.

Owner even had a nonfore and smores for everyone in the evening. Completely free as well. Top bloke!

Overall an excellent site. Our 3rd time visiting!

Disliked Not allot really!

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite (pet friendly)

Liked A relaxed vibe at this small friendly site. Good sized pitch which was slightly screened off by tall grasses so it felt very private. There is a bar/shop area next to Reception which sells a very decent glass of cider ( beer also available! ) as well as good coffee and other things e g. sweets. The toilets were immaculate and the provision of a phone charging station was really useful. The owners Leigh and Michaela couldn't have been nicer and were so welcoming and happy to chat. Gizmo the JRT was a star as was the resident labrador ( sorry forgot your name). Great idea to have a separate camping field for doggos away from the chickens and small children 😆. As a solo female camper it felt very safe and me, Bean and Spud will definitely be back.

Disliked I can't say that I disliked anything really but if you're a light sleeper, be aware that there is a busy road near the dog friendly camping field. It won't affect your dog's safety but the traffic doesn't really quieten down until quite late , so maybe bring earplugs if it would be an issue for you.

Primitive grass tent campsite (large, no pets)

Liked Absolutely everything!!!
Huge amount of space between pitches, it states no cars by pitch but allows you to drive up, then pitch up, before leaving the car on the car park.
This time when we arrived the campsite was FULL, however, everyone stuck to the rules and there was no rowdy behaviour from adults or unruly children not supervised by their parents. A great stay yet again, thank you ☺️
No WiFi but no problems here, the majority of people have data so who cares 🤷‍♀️
A variety of walks or drives to different areas, we love it here, just a shame we can’t get there more often 😔

Disliked Our only disappointment was that we couldn’t purchase our usual free range eggs from the chickens that we fed our bacon scraps to every morning 🤣🤣🤣 They are rescue hens and we are happy to go without so they can live the rest of their lives as free range and spoiled 🤣🤣

Primitive grass campervan or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Great showers, clean toilets, hot water for washing up. Tent areas are nicely mown through the long grass. Chickens are so cute! Very friendly owners and enthusiastic (and free!) Smore making enjoyed by the kids on Saturday evening.

Disliked Maybe we were just unlucky but it was very noisy. Lots of campers playing music. If you are camped near the facilities - and you have to be if you are in a van- the bar will be open and friendly- and therefore loud! Unfortunately there were kids and campers up making noise until way past midnight so we left one night early.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: You shortened your stay before you even arrived but brought an extra person, you then complained you had not received a partial refund when bringing the extra person meant you actually owed us money. Let's be honest, this was actually the real issue.
We are a no music site. Last orders at the bar is 10:30 p.m. and we expect silence by 11:00 p.m. The only noise past 11:00 p.m. was a baby crying which is beyond everybody's control. Please dont come back

Liked ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Fantastic Hosts and a Brilliant Stay!

We had the absolute pleasure of staying with Lee and Michaela, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for better hosts. From the moment we arrived, they were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful—you can really tell they care about making sure everyone has a great experience.

Their warm hospitality made us feel right at home, and they went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They’re just genuinely fantastic people, and that made all the difference.

The facilities were excellent—clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully set up for campers. Everything we needed was there.

We’re already looking forward to coming back. If you’re thinking of staying here—do it. You won’t regret it!

Thank you again, Lee and Michaela!

From Rob and group!

Disliked Couldn’t stay longer!

Local attractions

Get gallivanting through the green grounds of Erddig Hall (30 minutes' drive), Chirk Castle (30 minutes) or Ness Botanic Gardens (50 minutes) for fab floral displays, impressive buildings and splendid outdoor strolls. They have something else in common too: top-rated cafés where you can take afternoon tea in genteel garden surrounds. Those magnificently manicured spots strike a cracking contrast with wilder haunts like the shores of Lake Bala (25 minutes), Castell Dinas Brân (25 minutes) and Horseshoe Falls (20 minutes). There's also scope for giving your walking boots and mountain bikes a run for their money at Oneplanet Adventure (10 minutes), a forest visitor centre surrounded by a host of waymarked trails. Further full-on action can be found at the National White Water Centre (30 minutes), while those of a less intrepid temperament have Chester Zoo (40 minutes) not much further away. After making friends with sloths, elephants and jaguars, saunter down into the centre for a stroll down by the Dee or a laidback riverboat cruise.
