General

  • Luxury glamping units in a rural farm setting near the Dee Valley
  • Chirk Castle and Llangollen 20 minutes' drive
  • Furnished bell tents with kitchen and bathrooms in a separate cabin

CampUs Ceiriog is a small-scale glamping site in a quiet corner of the Welsh countryside near Llangollen and the Dee Valley. Located on a family farm, the site has excellent access to a wide variety of tourist sights, from castles to waterfalls and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct World Heritage Site.

Sleep in a comfy double bed in one of the site's canvas bell tents, which come complete with cosy bedding, cushions, blankets and other soft furnishings to help you get a relaxing night's sleep. The other facilities here are shared but are maintained to a very high standard, with a smart cabin built from upcycled materials housing the site's toilets, showers and a well-appointed kitchenette with scenic views over the local landscape.

CampUs Ceiriog is just over a mile from the quiet village of Glyn Ceiriog, where there is a pub, convenience store and pharmacy. There are plenty of local walks to try out in the local area if you fancy stretching your legs, with hand-drawn maps of the owners' favourites available from the communal area if you're after some inspiration.

As experienced campers this was our first true glamping experience. We had the most wonderful weekend and would highly recommend it. The belle tent was absolutely beautiful and felt very luxurious. The bed was very comfortable and came with luxury bedding, pillows and blankets. Our children were very happy with their mini beds that also had luxury bedding and we all slept really well.

The setting was absolutely beautiful with stunning scenery. The shared facilities were lovely with plenty of fridge space, fantastic equipment and our own separate toilet and shower facilities with lovely toiletries.

The hammock was a great touch that we all used and enjoyed. The owners made us feel very welcome and left you to enjoy it, safe in the knowledge they were there if you needed anything. The site is very well run and felt very well organised.

We had a lovely walk to the local village and wished we were staying longer as there are plenty of places to visit nearby and lots of walks.

We had a really relaxing time and were very lucky with the weather with 2 amazing sunsets. However, the tents and cavan are perfectly set out for unpredictable weather.

Thank you so much for having us and we wouldn't hesitate to come back again soon.

The bell tent was brilliant, there were 5 of us staying and it didn't feel cramped at all. We had a double bed and the kids had single beds, all the beds were made up on arrival and all essential extras like blankets and pillows. We also hired the pitfire which was lovely in the evening. The cabin was incredible, all utensils provided and essentials like tea, coffee and sugar. We had use of the a few board games in the cabin too. We also had out own bathroom which was amazing, the shower was lovely. The owners Beth and Steve and their 2 children were a delight and nothing was too much trouble if we needed anything they were there.
Cleanliness was exceptional. Thank you for a lovely few days and the kids absolutely loved it. We would definitely stay again. Lou, Michael and the children xx

    Disliked:

We didn't really dislike anything, the only downside for us was the children needing the loo in the middle of the night was a little bit of a walk over the field to the cabin so maybe consider taking a portaloo if the owners are ok with that. It was a bit out of the way the location for us with the kids but never less we still enjoyed it. Also take some extra things for the children like balk games as we did and some colouring books and pens and so on but again this is camping and definitely not a bad reflection on the service and amenities that Beth and Steve provided. This is just for advice before going.

Fabulous setting, great set up and best thing was having your own bathroom. It was Clean and has been well thought out for a perfect break away.

    Disliked:

Could have done with some kind of electric set up in the tent, but actually nice to get away from technology.
