  • Small family-friendly working farm site in the Dee Valley
  • Half an hour from Llyn Tegid and 45 minutes from Betws-y-Coed
  • Firepits available for hire; breakfast available on weekend mornings
Walking, cycling, running and swimming… outdoor enthusiasts or simply anyone looking for a relaxing break may set up a sturdy base at The Llama Farm, a small, family-friendly site in the Dee Valley in North Wales. Here, you’ll be planting down on a working farm on the banks of the river Dee in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where each pitch has just under an acre of land and part of a heritage railway line running from Corwen to Llangollen (with a station in Carrog) runs along the bottom of the meadow. The cosy facilities here include toilets and a dishwashing area. You may want to channel good vibes with a firepit, available for hire at a small cost per night. The site also offers phone and power bank charging points so you it's easy to plot out your route. You’ll be able to power up with a breakfast made from ingredients sourced from the farm on weekends, as this is available upon request on Saturdays and Sundays. As this is a working farm, there may be times where the site takes a little longer to respond, so they ask for patience while they deal with your needs. The farm’s animals like their own space and may be wary of strangers coming to say hello, so guests are asked to keep to designated paths and fields.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The location is stunning and although I was only stopping one night to test a new backpacking tent I would definitely go back again. Close to Corwen for supplies etc and a nice Pub a short walk away.

Disliked I didn't really dislike anything myself but the facilities are well kept but basic. I think this would put some people off especially families with young children although the fees do reflect this. Maybe this would improve if the site grows in the future.

3 bedroom ready tent (family)

Liked The site is run by friendly people who were keen to make sure we had everything we needed. Our two small children were also made to feel very welcome and safe on the site. The scenery is beautiful and there are some animals on the farm that the children enjoyed seeing. There are also plenty of birds around the site. The site is quiet and peaceful, and there is plenty of room to run and play. We also enjoyed the coffee and cooked breakfast during our stay. There are quite basic facilities that are clean and well looked after. We would stay here again.

Disliked Our tent had a couple of leaks, which we spotted due to our first night being an exceptionally wet one!

3 bedroom ready tent (family)

Liked Recently stayed here, it was fantastic! Beautiful surroundings and fantastic staff. Facilities were perfect for what we needed. Fire pits are easily available to hire. Our group hired a tent which was already put up for our arrival. We were able to order a cooked breakfast one morning which was amazing and great value. The reason for the trip was for my birthday, a brilliant member of staff, Rich bought cupcakes for our group! What a lovely gesture which was greatly appreciated by the group. Thank you Rich and team for a fantastic stay, can’t wait to come back.

Disliked Nothing - couldn’t fault a thing.
