  • Family-friendly glamping cabin on a working farm in North Wales
  • Llanrwst 10 minutes’ drive; Betws-y-Coed 15 minutes
  • Views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains; walking trails nearby
A cosy place to lay your head, with good views? It’s a simple ask, but not always easy to find. The answer could well be here though, at Willow Tree Glamping in North Wales. Its cabin sits peacefully in a private field on a working farm with views for miles – all the way to the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia), in fact. With your own private outdoor decking area laid out with comfortable seating, spend as long as you like admiring those views. Your cabin has a compact but fully equipped kitchenette where you can make a coffee to take out on deck in the morning – or stay inside longer and use what's there (a microwave, air fryer, gas hob, sink, mini fridge and food prep area) to fashion a full breakfast. (The kitchenette even has food and water bowls for your dogs, so no one’s left out.) Once you're fed and ready to exchange those views for something new, there are plenty of stunning walking trails in the area to follow. The site is also a 10-minute drive from the market town of Llanwrst and 15 minutes from busy Betws-y-Coed, used by many as a base for hiking, mountain biking and gorge walking. You may well be tired after a day exploring and pleased to reunite with the cabin's comfortable double bedroom and bathroom (with a shower, toilet, sink and heated towel rail). There's a peaceful atmosphere at the cabin, although there may be occasions when you hear farm vehicles or animals. One final heads up: dogs must remain on leads at all times outside of the cabin.

Route directions

The postcode usually takes you to the farm next door, so the site recommends you use what3words (patch.sounding.alongside) to find the entrance of the farm. At the entrance to the cabin driveway, there is a young willow tree alongside the Willow Tree Glamping sign. The cabin has its own private driveway which is located on the left as you enter the farm. It’ll take you to your own car park.

Local attractions

What an area for outdoor adventures: Gwydir Forest Park (10 minutes’ drive), next to Betws-y-Coed (15 minutes), has waterfalls, lakes, mine buildings and 14 trails for you to follow. If you’re feeling brave, stop by Zip World Betws-y-Coed (10 minutes) to zip through the trees on its forest coaster or drop 100 feet from the trap doors on the Plummet tower – while safely strapped in, of course. Meanwhile, those who have their eyes set on hiking up Wales’ highest mountain, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) can head to the Pyg Track (35 minutes). After all of those activities, you may be in need of a trip to the market town of Llanrwst (10 minutes) for a pub meal and a lighter stroll around town or along the river Conwy. You could also put aside a day to kick back on Colwyn Bay beach (35 minutes). Just along from there is Rhos on Sea beach (35 minutes), where watersports equipment can be hired should your energy suddenly replenish as soon as you lay eyes on the big blue sea.
