  • Luxury family-friendly glamping accommodation in the Snowdonia hills
  • A 10-minute drive from Betws-y-Coed and Zip World Fforest
  • Barbecue, firepit, seating and outdoor kitchen provided under a canopy
Peaceful mornings in the Snowdonia hills? Eves by the firepit, staring up at the Snowdonia stars? Surfing, caving, mountain biking and hiking out in the local area? Say no more… Snowdonia Glamping Holidays has it all sorted and there’s no need to bivvy down in the corner of a far-flung field, as the site specialises in luxury glamping accommodation. Still, it’s easy to switch off completely here. All of the glamping accommodations are unplugged from the internet, mobile signal, TV signal and radio waves. There’s no traffic and no loud music from neighbours, unless you count the birdsong and the occasional sheep symphony. All that comes with Snowdonia National Park as your backdrop… Whether you want to admire the starry skies or the Snowdonia scenery, there’s a splendid outdoor space set up just for your accommodation. This includes a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen, firepit, gas barbecue and a single burner and seating all under canopy. All that’s left is to pick up supplies. Positioned up in the hills above the alpine village of Betws-y-Coed, it’ll be nice and easy to descend upon its shops, restaurants and pubs when you want to. The only tricky part will be tearing yourself away from the comforts on site. Close attention has been paid to all the little details, so there are comfy beds with luxury linen, warm Welsh blankets, sheepskin rugs and fluffy towels. There are also private bathrooms with a toilet, shower and wash basin and maps and books for hiking inspiration.

Local attractions

Hoping for outdoor activities in the Snowdonia peaks? This spot is seriously good. Zip World Fforest (10 minutes’ drive) has a forest rollercoaster, zipwires and treetop obstacles like nets and beams for kids. There are more Zip World destinations further out, but other opportunities for adventures include the underground mine activities run by Go Below Underground Adventures (five minutes), whose base and café are within striking distance. The site is always on-hand to lend advice for tackling Snowdon (around 35 minutes’ drive), alternative mountains, other less-crowded walks and local rivers or lakes for swimming. Lakes like Llyn Tegid (35 minutes) are excellent for kayaking and paddleboarding – rent or bring your own – and Adventure Parc Snowdonia (25 minutes) has an inland surf lagoon. What else? Perhaps hopping between historical sites like Conwy Castle (25 minutes), Harlech Castle (50 minutes), Beaumaris Castle (an hour) and the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden (half an hour)? Mountain biking on the Marin Trail in Gwydir Mawr & Bach (20 minutes) or the Penmachno MTB Trail (15 minutes)? A day trip to Anglesey (an hour five minutes)?
