Liked: There are so many things that we liked about Brecon Beacons Touring park. The first thing has to be the welcome, It was just lovely. The check-in was easy, and we found out almost immediately, that we were in for a treat, as there was a carnival taking place, which was starting from the entrance of the park in an hour's time. The community feel was just fantastic, with everyone saying hello, with a smile. This was such a breath of fresh air, and a great good feel factor. We were impressed with the layout of the park and the kitchen, shower/toilet facilities, were well thought out, and were immaculately clean. The park itself is adjourned to a beautiful country pub, that sells a variety of ales and serves al larcarte meals, as well as light bites. They are in fact in the finals for award winning eatery. The pub has plenty of parking, and a massive seating area. They also have a five rating food hut parked, just in-between the two areas, serving gourmet burgers. A bit pricey, but the quality of meat comes from locally sourced businesses, justifies this. They also cater for vegans and vegetarians, which was so important, to a non meater like myself. Again a breath of fresh air as we are often forgotten, especially for somewhere rural as this site. My husband on the other is a meat lover and loved the fact the burgers were homemade and the options were plenty. The pitches are spread out, and you have plenty of space from your neighbours, which is what we want when we go away, we like to just down tools from our busy week and chill. We were so lucky with the weather, and were able to enjoy the evening outside the campervan which was lovely and peaceful. We did not hear any noise during the night and slept well. In a nutshell, this site was just perfect.

Disliked: It states no hen or stag parties, yet there were a crowd of bikers, who were travelling through and although they weren't a nuisance, their unessessary bad language was unpleasant to hear. Especially, as the site had children there. I feel they should either respect for others or be asked to leave if they don't.

Liked: A quiet rural campus - everyone was friendly and staff flexible. We arrived late but they were very accompanying.

Disliked: Quite a lot of dogs barking and not very clear signage for the campus, easily missed on the roads. Pitches were a bit uneven but nothing major.

Liked: Small, quiet site with modern, clean shower block. Lovely hot showers. Janine (owner) is really friendly and helpful and if not on site, is only a phone call away. She text us details of an amazing walk/hike to Henrhyd falls, thank you. Everyone, including other campers, were friendly . The Gastro-pub in front of the site is a must to try. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was yhe service. Outside there's a "pop up kitchen" Van selling gourmet burgers, hotdogs & Pizza in a large beer garden that's patially undercover. Just a few minutes walk up the road there's a general store and a new lovely Coffee Shop. What more could you want.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Local attractions

Hiking is a real highlight around here, whether you're keen to tick off the major sights or seek out quieter trails. Some of the popular spots nearby include Henrhyd Falls (10 minutes’ drive), the Four Waterfalls Walk (half an hour) and the trails taking you up South Wales’ tallest peak, Pen y Fan (half an hour). For more of an adrenaline rush, take yourselves to the all-weather trails of BikePark Wales (40 minutes) or ride the high-speed ziplines at Zip World Tower (20 minutes). All a bit too much? Settle for a quieter life with a visit to the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (five minutes), animal encounters at Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary (five minutes) or a tour and tipple at Penderyn Distillery (20 minutes). Change of scenery? Get down to the Gower Peninsula (around an hour) for beach days and coastal walks – places like Mumbles, Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili are well worth the longer drive, and there are lots of lovely places to eat along the coast too.
