Liked: This was exactly what we had in mind for wild welsh camping! Run by a lovely little family who came up to greet us after arriving. We had a beautiful quiet spot for the night, the site is well kept and beautiful surroundings for walks ect. If you want a quiet spot in the welsh wilderness, this is the one!!! Will definitely be returning!

Liked: This is an ideal wild camping spot in the heart of the beautiful Maldwyn area of Mid Wales where the local people are renowned for their welcoming and friendly manner. If you appreciate remoteness away from life's hamster wheel of hustle and bustle and wish to immerse yourself into Wild Wales, you needn't travel much further than your pitch to experience the abundance of wildlife and stunning Welsh countryside. In late August, during my 3 night stay, I woke up every morning to the sound of a Woodpecker feeding amongst the native trees of ash, oak, birch and hazel. During breakfast I saw Red Kite and Buzzard soaring the skies above. One lunchtime, I saw a Stoat weaving through the field. On an evening I would light a fire using firewood gathered from fallen branches. During the day, I would either take a walk around the lanes and tracks, read a book, relax with a glass of wine while absorbing the magnificent views across Maldwyn, towards Gwynedd further West or Shropshire towards the East. One day I did explore the local area by car, stopping in Meifod, Llanfair Caereinion and nearby Llanfyllin where there are amenities such as pubs, shops, cafes, restaurants and services. Within 5 miles west of the campsite is the majestic Llyn Efyrnwy/Lake Vyrnwy where you could spend a whole day exploring. Excellent hikes around the area too.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and I really liked their ecological mindset to live a simple life in harmony with Mother Nature. They were at the end of a phone/text if I needed them at any time and were so accommodating. The facilities were very basic - but for the low price, I wasn't expecting hotel facilities in the middle of a field. It is what it is and what you make of it yourself. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely visit again soon!

Liked: I, and my two dogs, absolutely loved this place. This is self-contained camping at its best. We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy the wide open spaces and incredibe views alone and my dogs were able to explore off lead without bothering anyone. There are three fields and the highest has the greatest views, though can be windy. The fields and track are bumpy in places so don't come in a vehicle with low ground clearance.
Will and Sammy were so accommodating and helpful, yet kept a discreet distance and allowed us to enjoy the space for ourselves. They are running the farm organically and so a pristine compost loo and water are the only facilities provided. Perfect for me; I don't understand why people want to go camping yet expect hotel facilities. The local village has a well stocked shop and good pubs.
I would have like to stay longer and can't wait to be able to visit again.
Disliked: Nothing
