What customers say

Praised for its peaceful, secluded setting with spacious, clean accommodations, private cooking areas, and fire pits. Friendly owners, popular kids' activities, and clean facilities. Minor drawbacks: no electricity/phone signal, and a challenging access road. A beautiful, relaxing escape.

Liked Quiet camp site, really intimate with a really cool off grid feel.
Stayed in the Yurt which was good value, surprising spacious and had a lovely log burner.

Tawny Owl bell tent

Liked This is exactly the kind of place I had hoped it would be, if not way better! We are still smiling days later and will definitely return! Peaceful nature setting with sheep roaming around, fantastic facilities, falling asleep in the Tawny Owl tent to the sound of a tawny owl! The site is well maintained and the owners are lovely and helpful, and go the extra mile with cool box/ice blocks, showing us the animals, and generally being around to make everyones' stay as nice as possible.

The Tawny Owl tent is a short walk from the car park which may be a preference for some. A few of the tents are down in the valley bit which may not be obvious from the map. They are slightly more secluded but a short uphill walk to go anywhere.

The treasure hunts are a sweet addition - maps can be found in the communal Lodge. We didn't have a fire pit by our tent but down the gorge bit behind the tent, with a shelter and seating, we loved that space!

No electricity on site which we knew so we brought fully charged power banks but they drained overnight in the cold, so be prepared for that happening. I recommend downloading maps to use offline, which we did in advance, as there is patchy signal & no wifi.

The kitchen area has a wooden chest full of everything you need for self catering, though a few things are well used so perhaps bring e.g. a frying pan.

There's a double gas hob and kettle, and washing up bowl & towel. Matches are provided. There are several lanterns which are a nice touch, they really added to the ambience! (Bring own nightlight candles). There is solar powered lighting in the kitchen area and lovely fairy lights.

We visited Hafren Forest nearby-ish - great day out for long walks in nature with waterfalls and woodland.

Disliked We didn't dislike anything provided by the campsite/owners.
Unfortunately one evening someone was idling their car engine for over an hour (charging phones?) in the car park which is directly behind the Tawny Owl tent. This was while we were enjoying the birdsong by our tent and was very frustrating as went there to escape the city sounds. At one point someone (I believe same person) flew a drone over our camp and hovered above us as we went under trees to get away from it, encroaching on our privacy. Would be good to have a drone ban on site!

Goshawk bell tent

Liked What a lovely well thought out site. The owner really has gone to so much effort. I can not praise this site enough, from the treasure hunt to ice packs being delivered for your perishable food.

We had so much fun completing the treasure hunt (all 3 of them 😜) and had the best night's sleep in a long time.

Such an enjoyable experience and Karen really is a wonderful woman with a lovely little family.

Tawny Owl bell tent

Liked Lovely clean campsite, comfortable beds in the yurt. Lovely owners. Fun treasure hunt for the kids. Clean showers and toilets. Every tent is set away from each other so it’s like you have a little campsite of your own and you don’t hear or see anyone else unless you go exploring.

Otter bell tent

Liked We loved everything about the place.
Secluded, private space with a cooking shelter and firepit. River running right alongside providing a tranquil relaxed atmosphere. Huge clean welcoming tent with a comfy bed.
Toilet and shower facilites were amazing and clean.
Clean, fresh drinking water and somewhere to wash dishes. Only noises to be heard were wildlife and running water.
Very friendly and helpful owners.

Red Kite yurt

Liked This site is definitely a hidden treasure. This was a very late booking for us as the weather was beautiful. When we arrived the yurt was fully stocked, clean and tidy. It was then time explore, there is so much to do for children, the lodge is a great idea we spent the afternoon playing games and doing the treasure hunt. No need for technology this weekend although there was signal.
We will definitely being coming back.
