  • Peaceful meadow site in the Powys countryside near Welshpool
  • A 20-minute drive to Powis Castle; Snowdonia National Park 50 minutes
  • Offa’s Dyke Path on site; pubs and a shop within walking distance
A small and peaceful family-run site in Powys, Hayfield Glamping and Camping is in pole position for exploring Mid Wales, sitting between Welshpool, Oswestry and Shrewsbury. It’s in a rural location surrounded by poplar trees and yet easily accessible off the A483 – and right on the Offa’s Dyke Path if you fancy exploring on foot. To add to the quiet, wild vibe of the place, there is no wifi connection or electricity on site. Hunker down around the firepit – well-behaved pooches are welcome to join you too. Firewood can be purchased on site. If you do need to get back in touch with the world, never fear because emergency phone charging is on-hand. So you can cook on site, pick up supplies in the convenience store in Four Crosses (five minutes’ walk). If you’re also keen to sample some top local grub, there are fine country pubs, a Chinese takeaway and a fish and chip shop in the village too.

A small, quiet, spotless campsite with spacious, level pitches. Hosts are super friendly and accommodating, especially Phil. Facilities are immaculate. Great location near Offa's Dyke Path, shops & pubs. Some found facilities limited, but most loved it and plan to return.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely site, great flat pitches with fire pits and benches if needed. Toilet and shower were always spotless and the water always hot with adjustable temp. Phil and family were lovely and very helpful if needed. Great location, a handful of national trusts within a 15/30 min drive as well as towns for shopping and cafe hopping. Petrol station and shop 3 minute walk away. Lovely stay, thank you

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Owner quite helpful.

Disliked Difficult to find. Couldn’t take car onto pitch. Heavy metal gate to get onto pitch which had to be kept closed.

Liked Phil was friendly and accommodating, as it was a last minute camp I overlooked so many things we needed and Phil went above and beyond to make sure we had everything , lending g us some of his own bits . The location is great , it’s quiet but close enough to get to places we wanted to visit . Theres a local Morrisons a few minutes away which is ideal, shower and toilets were spotless

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Everything about this place. From the warm welcome, a little throw around with the gorgeous family dog, Holly, to the spacious pitches in a quiet location with perfectly simple amenities. This place has it all figured out! If you haven’t thought of what you need, they might have done as our host, Phil, grabbed a trolley for our gear seeing us with our hands full

Disliked Nothing at all.

Bell tent

Liked The site was really peaceful and private. The tent was gorgeous, clean, beautifully decorated and lovely comfy beds/bedding. Toilet and shower probably the cleanest on any campsite I've used! Phil was so helpful and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Would come back in a heartbeat!

Disliked Nothing at all negative to say!

Bell tent

Liked A fantastic, spacious site with a beautiful location. Lovely, clean facilities with lots included! We stayed in the bell tent so had real bedding on the bed, another awning area with chairs and a stand for cooking. A seperate picnic table and fire pit allowed for a great place to spend the evening. Really friendly and helpful hosts. Great stay all round! No wifi but loved that as it meant a better connection as a family!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely quiet site that I stopped by at on my way down to South Wales - the location just off the A483 is really convenient. The owner was very friendly and the facilities are great and super clean. Only a couple of pitches and still feels 'wild'

Local attractions

Four Crosses is right on Offa’s Dyke Path, making it an ideal stopover for serious hikers. If you’re hoping to venture into the wilder countryside of Mid Wales, head for the Berwyn Hills (40 minutes’ drive) for challenging rambles, or you can head further north to Snowdonia National Park (50 minutes). If you’d like to up the culture factor, Limeworks Heritage Area (five minutes) reveals a landscape shaped by quarrying and is home to a rare Hoffmann lime kiln. Welshpool (15 minutes) is a cute Georgian market town with waterside walks along 18th-century Montgomery Canal and a cluster of local history museums to dip into. Close by you can visit not one – but two – National Trust properties with celebrated formal gardens – both Powis (20 minutes) and Chirk (30 minutes) castles have equally impressive interiors open for tours. If the kids are fretting at all this talk of history, give them a day of animal encounters, tractor rides and outdoor play at Park Hall Countryside Experience (20 minutes), where they can burn off energy safely. If they’re still over-full of beans, book tubing sessions on the Dee river at Llangollen (35 minutes) to really wear them out.
