  • Family-run Mid Wales farm site and wildlife haven just off the A44
  • Llandrindod Wells 10 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Knighton
  • Local pub with beer garden accessed from the back of the campsite
Stopping over for a night, or in need of a base for a longer break meandering around Mid Wales? Either way, there's a warm welcome at Dolswydd Caravan Park, in a handy spot just off the A44, 10 minutes’ drive from Llandrindod Wells. This family-run site is on the edge of a traditional working farm with a backdrop of open common land and the Welsh hills behind. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s something of a wildlife haven, with regular visitors including red kites, otters, woodpeckers and hares as well as the swans who stop by daily. Getting out and about in the local countryside is a cinch from here – walkers can hit major trails like the Offa’s Dyke Path and Glyndŵr's Way, or find quiet local lanes to wander along. Golf, horse riding, canoeing, archery and climbing are among the other activities available nearby, and there’s fishing next door to the site on the River Ithon. Modern facilities on site include bathrooms with toilets and showers, plus a launderette. A short (500-metre) walk away through the back of the campsite is the local pub, which serves good home-cooked food and has a lovely riverside beer garden.

What customers say

This peaceful, clean, well-kept campsite is praised for its riverside location and nearby pub. Guests rave about friendly owners, level sites, and great value. While most had a great time, some noted limited facilities (one shower per block) and dated bathrooms. Most would return.

Liked Everything here - this was a return visit we enjoyed it so much last time, so much to see and do here if you want it, or just chill around the caravan and enjoy the peace and quiet even partaking in a glass or two of wine in the pub next door which is via a gate at the end of the hard standing pitches.) Good food there too!

Disliked Nothing really but did find the grass pitches a little tight to get our caravan off (twin axle)on the top corner luckily most people had pulled off when we left so had plenty of room to manouvere out but that’s just being picky not a real dislike

Powered grass campsite

Liked This was my first stay at Dolswydd (11/07/25) I initially booked for one night, but after a few minutes and a wander around I booked a second night and recommended it to my mate who arrived the next day.
The site and facilities are absolutely spotless, well kept and maintained, everything is very neat and tidy, other visitors were very friendly and welcoming too.
After about 10.30 pm the site was very quiet with no noise or disturbance of any kind, luckily the weather was excellent and the night sky was spectacular.
The Severn Arms pub is just through the gate at the rear of the site. The food was excellent, the beer cold and prices were very reasonable.
Pen y Bont is a beautiful area with some lovely walks and cycle routes with wonderful views all around.
Booking was easy and communications from Rachel were friendly and a pleasure.
I hope to return very soon.

Cheers!

Andrew

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.
As there were only two other bookings during your stay, who had self contained bathroom facilities, we would hope that the shower facilities didn't hold you up.
