  • Shepherd's huts at a peaceful Ceredigion family-run farm
  • Five minutes' drive from Lampeter; 20 from Aberaeron on the coast
  • Self-contained huts with ensuite shower, kitchen and woodburner
Croeso (welcome) is a word you’ll get to know when staying at Caemanal – partly because there’s always a warm welcome on offer here, and partly because it’s owned by a Welsh-speaking family who are particularly happy to help gusts dip their toes into the Welsh language or develop their skills while staying here. Whichever language you choose, it’s likely that at least part of your conversation will involve singing the praises of the gorgeous surroundings. This Ceredigion location, on a family farm two miles from Lampeter, is a serene and scenic one, with lovely views of the neighbouring farmland and Cambrian mountains. Your base for taking all of this in is a cosy shepherd’s hut – there are just a couple on site (so there’s plenty of space around them) and each one has a comfortable double bed, a woodburning stove and an ensuite shower room. A small kitchen has been built in too, with a gas hob, fridge, toaster, coffee pod machine and all the utensils, cutlery, crockery, cups and glasses you’ll need for your meals. Fancy cooking outside instead? Head over to the firepit area and get the grill going. There’s plenty of firewood available here and it’s a nice place just to keep warm and have a chat even if you’re not cooking. Days out around here give you the option of either countryside or coast – the Ceredigion Coast Path is about 20 minutes’ drive away at Aberaeron and there are lots of walks and attractions inland too. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to accompany you; they’ll need to be kept on leads in neighbouring fields but there’s a dedicated field on site where they can scamper about off lead.

Route directions

Please note that there is no sign for Caemanal. Coedparc is exactly two miles from Lampeter on the A485 (Tregaron Road). Look out for a white farmhouse on your right as soon as you pass a solitary white bungalow in the woods to your left (named Cysgod y Coed). Please drive down the lane to Coedparc Farm. If travelling from the Tregaron direction, take the first exit on the left down a narrow lane as soon as you leave the small village of Betws Bledrws. The carriages are located at the bottom of this lane.
