Sunset over the fields

  • Peaceful pitches on a working farm at Llangoedmor, near Cardigan
  • A 10-minute drive to the Wales Coast Path; 15 to Poppit Sands beach
  • Family-friendly site with walks nearby; off-site launderette available
Located on a working farm at Llangoedmor near Cardigan, Coedmor Camping is a wonderfully family-friendly spot well out of the way off any main roads. Cars are also left in a designated on-site parking area, so there’s plenty of field acreage for kids – and any family dogs – to let off steam safely. Here, you're welcome to go and meet the site's alpaca, Ivor, and buy some food to feed him. Ivor has the company of cheeky pet lambs (in season), as well as donkeys (selfie opportunity?). As a sustainable gesture to preserving the local area, the team at Coedmor Camping aim to plant a tree for every visitor in its newly created Coedmor Jubilee Woods (over 25,000 have been planted so far). If you’d like to plant your own during your stay, drop the owners a line in advance to organise a suitable time. The woods are there for you to make the most of – have a chase around with the kids, spot wildlife… and don’t forget all farm animals. Yes, Coco and Zara the cuddly donkeys and the pygmy goats are all waiting to say ‘hi’. With the Wales Coast Path running through Cardigan (10 minutes’ drive), Coedmor is also a smart over-night stop for long-distance hikers, and the owners can arrange a pick-up from local transport if needs be. Simple on-site facilities include portable toilets and ice-pack freezing, and you can arrange to have clothes washed and dried at the off-site launderette. Barbecues are permitted by your pitch, so pick up supplies in handy Cardigan supermarkets. There’s also a pub, fish and chip shop, garage and store at Llechryd, five minutes’ drive from the campsite.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Can not recommend enough, Ruth is a wonderful host who really goes above and beyond for each and everyone staying.
We loved seeing the donkey's and sheep too.
Lovely open field, stunning views and very, very accommodating.
There is a little swing set too which is fenced in for little ones, lots of open space which would be great for families too.

Disliked You do need to drive to get anywhere, however Ruth was more than willing to help with this.

Excellent site. Level pitches. We’ll return for another visit.

Derwen bell tent

Liked Loved the site and the bell tent itself. Ruth could not be more friendly and accommodating for us. Offering use of the kayaks and use of alternative washing facilities as unfortunately the solar shower was broken.
Back to basics which we love and we'd love to bring our girls here.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Peaceful but close to Cardigan and several beaches. Very basic but very affordable, exactly what we like. There's swings for smaller kids and some sports equipment like badminton, cricket, balls and frisbees which is great when you forgot to pack that kind of thing! Ruth was very friendly and welcoming and ever so helpful. She knows a lot about the local area. We got to meet donkeys and sheep too which was cool.

Quiet location. Very child friendly. Ruth the owner could not have done…

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Quiet location. Very child friendly. Ruth the owner could not have done more for us. Went out of her way to make time for the kids despite clearly being busy. Checked in on us daily and gave lots of helpful local knowledge. Would definitely stay again.

Local attractions

You could treat the kids to a different beach every day if you want, as several (Poppit Sands, Traeth Mwnt and Aberporth to name but three) are within 20 minutes’ drive. Also nearby is the Welsh Wildlife Centre (15 minutes’ drive), a big hit with animal-mad youngsters for its cuddly animal encounters and nature trails.   The campsite is also a choice spot for walkers, as it’s on the edge of Coedmor National Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ walk), where there are circular strolls along the banks of the River Teifi. For more serious hiking along clifftops, the Wales Coast Path runs through Cardigan (10 minutes’ drive). Cyclists don’t miss out either, as Cycle Route 4a runs alongside the campsite, forming part of the long-distance London to Fishguard route. Want to see how people lived-in times gone by? Sign up for craft workshops in the recreated roundhouses at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village (20 minutes), or admire River Teifi views from the ramparts at National Trust-owned Cilgerran Castle (10 minutes).
