  • Well-kept flat pitches with lovely views over the Dyfi estuary
  • Aberystwyth and Dyfi Bike Park both 20 minutes' drive away
  • Launch kayaks or paddleboards on the river from the site
If lovely scenery and lots of nature all around are on your shopping list for your West Wales camping break, then the setting of Ynyslas Camping should suit you rather well. This chilled-out Ceredigion campsite is in a national nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, with splendid views out over the Dyfi estuary. The estuary, of course, leads down to the coast – and it’s not far away at all, with the dunes of Ynyslas beach just under a mile and a half away (about a half-hour walk or couple of minutes in the car). From there you can pick up the Wales Coast Path to see some more of this gorgeous part of the Welsh coast, do some fishing or just hang out to see what kind of wildlife you can spot (out at sea or in the air perhaps). If you want to get out to sea, well, that’s possible too – there’s boat parking on site, and you can launch or store boats at the village boatyard less than a mile away. If you’re travelling with smaller craft, you can launch kayaks or paddleboards onto the estuary from the site. Staying on land, there are lots of bike trails nearby and the excellent Dyfi Bike Park is about 25 minutes’ drive away. Pitches here are flat and well maintained, with access to fresh water and waste disposal as well as toilets (compost loos and portable toilets). You’re welcome to bring a barbecue to cook meals; pick up the essentials in Borth, a couple of miles away, or bigger Aberystwyth (20 minutes’ drive). The coast, the local villages and the main town all have plenty to offer by way of places to eat out too – not forgetting the option of a Michelin-starred meal 10 minutes’ drive away in Furnace.

What customers say

Peaceful, remote site with great views, close to beach/estuary. Spacious pitches, friendly owners. Basic, clean facilities. Some want more bins, hot wash-up water, and electric hookups. A few noted uneven fields.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely little basic campsite with an off grid feel true to the wild camping genre. Two nice little proper toilets that are basic but clean and tidy and definitely NOT portaloos. Two sinks next to these for washing up etc. Owners are friendly and super helpful and the option to launch kayaks or paddleboards from a private riverside area that leads to the estuary.

Not crowded at all and nice and peaceful!

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Really quite and peaceful location with mountain backdrop & estuary adjacent with wonderful bird life abundant. Plenty of space to pitch with no one encroaching. Easy to find and access. Basic facilities but meticulously clean.

Disliked Nothing to dislike but guess electric hook ups would be bonus for longer stays.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely friendly campsite on a level field (albeit a lot of molehills) with very clean toilets and cold water washing up sinks. This site is in a great location with footpaths to the dunes, beach, estuary and countryside right on the doorstep. We had a lovely three night stay, thank you.
