Motorhome pitch

  • Hardstanding motorhome pitches in the Trossachs Pier car park
  • On the banks of Loch Katrine with direct access to the Trossachs Trail
  • Loch cruises, cycle hire, a café, scenic tower and gift shop on site
You’ll be cruising over Loch Katrine in no time once you’ve parked up at Trossachs Pier in Stirlingshire. This historic setting by the banks of the loch is in one of the UK’s largest National Nature Reserves, the Great Trossachs Forest. The hardstanding pitches are in the Trossachs Pier car park at Loch Katrine, so going from your motorhome to inside a steamship only takes a short stroll. The passenger cruises depart at frequent intervals every day. Try to grab a spot on the Sir Walter Scott steamship, which has sailed on the loch since 1900. At Trossachs Pier, there are cycle hire facilities, a café, a scenic tower and a gift shop. Of course, you might want to explore wider Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park too, and handily, the site is on the 40-mile Trossachs Trail which is packed with stunning scenery and attractions including Ben A'an, Callander, Aberfoyle and Doune Castle. More hiking and cycling trails are easy to track down. There’s plenty to get busy with, so when you arrive back at base, it’s good to know you have a solid set of facilities to fall back on including access to toilets and showers (both are only available at an additional charge). The pitches are allocated across the car park.

Power optional cement/asphalt RV campsite (large)

Liked: The location (yes it's a car park, but on the banks of the Loch ) perfect for a boat trip which I had and really enjoyed. Nice little shop and cafe. The watch tower shouldn't be missed. Staff knock off at 5 so best to be there before if u want any advice etc. I was worried after reading negative comments but for the money I think it's a great little spot. All staff I spoke to were lovely and helpful. Being out of main season it was quiet so may explain different experience. No staff on site after 5 so if was an issue maybe it would be different. Cost of showers should be highlighted on booking sites though.

Disliked: The fact that showers cost £5 is very expensive and not made clear on pitch up site. This should be highlighted. I didn't use them. Others have complained about the cost of EHU But I also didn't use that so can't comment. Phone signal poor due to location but can hardly blame the site for that.

Power optional cement/asphalt RV campsite (large)

Liked: Ok for the price, with EHU, and to be out of the way for a couple of nights. Limited facilities but access to a hot shower. At the end of the day, it's in a carpark for a tourist attraction albeit great one, so you also get boat trips, sky viewing area and lots of history. There's a great cafe that does a good brekkie. Lovely friendly and helpful people there. And there's a boat dog 🐶🐶

Disliked: Some pitches were sloped

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Outstanding views, really nice staff and excellent value. A hidden gem especially with recently opened viewing tower. It's clear a significant amount of money has been invested. Boat trip on 'to do' list for next time, definitely be back!

Disliked: Nothing

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Great area with plenty to see. Great to have large clean toilet area open 24 hrs. Many areas were not very level so I’ll get levelling ramps for using in case I encounter this somewhere else. (I’m new to this and learning as I go). Had great breakfast at reasonable price at local cafe in the morning. Will definitely be back again.

Disliked: Not being allocated a pitch no. When booking online and people who made bookings by phone were allocated a pitch no. This caused issues for people pitched up having to move to accommodate the tele bookings. Expensive to only have WC (no showers) No water disposals Pay additional for EHU

Liked: Had a lovely, quiet over night stay here. For over night stay with use of toilet and shower facilities, £10 with hook up, you definitely can't go wrong. Little hidden gem, would recommend and would definitely use again.

Liked: Close to the dock for the cruise boats around lake Katrine. There was a good cycle/ walking path leading round the loch. Slight sloping pitch.

Power optional cement/asphalt RV campsite (large)

Liked: The simplicity, price, location and staff, the area is a gem. Set your expectations, this is a carpark with 24hour facilities, electric if required, shower with hairdryer for £5 (per trip). The staff are simply wonderful… answered all of my silly questions and had a laugh with me. The boat trip was worth a trip and if you have AllTrails, the area is utterly wonderful for dog walking. Support local… the bakery’s and pubs nearby are outstanding. Plenty of interesting like minded travellers for company of an evening. Get the boat, hire a bike and enjoy a day out!

Disliked: Signal was none existent and wifi wasn’t strong enough to send a message most of the time. As a solo traveller this is particularly important to me (not everyone) as I like to send a location should an emergency occur. Arrive before 5 as the lovely staff obviously go home at this point. And when I arrived I wasn’t sure where to park. Or phone ahead.
