  • Well-equipped glamping pods on a small farm near Loch Leven
  • A half-hour drive to Perth; 40 minutes to St Andrews
  • Ensuite accommodation each with its own decking and barbecue
Off to the pretty Perthshire countryside, and a small farm near Loch Leven, where Wild Goose Glamping hosts a couple of cosy and well-equipped camping pods that make an excellent base for a quiet countryside break. This site is a mile from the village of Scotlandwell and easily accessed from the M90, about 15 minutes’ drive away. Perth (half an hour’s drive), St Andrews (40 minutes) and Edinburgh (an hour) are all close by, and you’ll also be well placed for walks in the Lomond Hills and outings to the fishing villages along the East Neuk of Fife coastline. The self-catering pods have been nicely thought out, with good insulation to keep them warm and peaceful (and a heater to deal with any chillier days). Each one sleeps three (in a double bed and sofa bed) with bedding and towels provided to help lighten your packing load. Ensuite shower rooms are also included, along with a kitchenette that’s got a two-ring hob, a full-sized fridge, a kettle and a toaster, plus all the utensils and crockery you’ll need for your meals. The views around here are fabulous, looking out over the Bishop Hill, the Ochil Hills and the Cleish hills, and there’s often wildlife to be spotted on site too (roe deer, buzzards and foxes are among the regular visitors, along with the wild geese that give the place its name). To help you make the most of all this, each pod is set on a wooden deck with a table, chairs and barbecue – all fenced off to give you privacy and protect you from the wind. If you’d like to eat out or pick up picnic supplies, the owners recommend a trip to the restaurant/deli Loch Leven’s Larder, 10 minutes’ drive away.
