  • Peaceful Perthshire pitches with direct access to the River Tay
  • A 15-minute drive to Pitlochry; 25 minutes to Tay Forest Park
  • Easy access via main roads; pub and shop a short walk away
Calling all those in search of outdoor adventures… Grandtully Station Campsite is in a fabulous Perthshire location with direct access to the River Tay and a wealth of adrenaline-filled activities in the surrounding area. Activity providers nearby have a great selection of options including gorge walking, canyoning, abseiling, rafting and mountain biking. Meanwhile, for calmer days out, you can take to the trails of Tay Forest Park, potter around pretty Pitlochry or sip samples at several local whisky distilleries… Back on site, you'll be staying on simple but well-kept pitches, where families, groups and dogs are all welcome. You'll have access to toilets and showers (described by one former guest as ‘impeccably clean’, and with accessible facilities) and wifi on site. There are also some handy facilities within walking distance, including a riverside pub, a convenience store and a fancy chocolate shop. Barbecues are permitted on site, so bring yours along and get set for an alfresco meal (the butcher in Pitlochry is a favourite for grill meats). Access to the site is easy from the A827, which links up to the A9 about six miles away for longer journeys.

6-amp powered gravel RV campsite (medium, maximum 7 metres)

Liked Excellent site with really modern facilities and nice wide pitches. Very quiet at night and there is a pub/restaurant just a few mins walk away for the evening. Nice dog walk and river walk nearby. Drive over Campervan facilities and toilet disposal are really well designed & modern

Disliked Electric hook up is very low power, wasn't enough to power our heating.

From the manager: Thank you ver much much for this feedback.

It is great to hear that overall you enjoyed the site. I am sorry that you were disappointed by the hook up on your pitch. We do have a few of different hook up options within the site. Listed on PitchUP we have 6 x pitches with a 10amp hook up, 3 x pitches with a 6 amp hook up and 3 x pitches with no hook up. We have added the amperage of each hook up to each pitch description in order to help our guests choose. Some people do not require a very powerful hook up so the 6amps is fine for them while others book the 10amps. It does sound like a 10amp pitch would have been more suited to your needs.

Thanks again for your valuable comments.

Liked Amazing campsite super friendly and welcoming. Great facilities so clean! You can easily access the old railway trail or walk to the river. There’s a lovely pub the Inn on the Tay just across the road who are also super lovely. Would definitely come again!

Powered grass tent campsite (medium)

Liked The facilities, location and staff.

Disliked Not being able to unload gear beside the pitch. It's pretty common for sites to ask you not to park beside your pitch. But generally after you've unloaded your gear. Having to park, empty the gear into a trolley and then drag it to the pitch isn't the end of the world, but this should be made clear and not buried in the Ts & Cs. If you're in a car, you'll typically have a lot of gear. It's a chore to have to lug it on a cart to your pitch.

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite (large, maximum 8 metres)

Liked We had a fantastic stay at Grandtully Station Campsite – it’s a hidden gem if you’re looking to truly get away from it all. The site is beautifully tucked out in the distance, surrounded by peaceful forest areas that make it feel wonderfully secluded and relaxing.

The campsite itself is spotlessly clean, tidy, and very well maintained. The facilities are modern and always clean, and the whole place has a really calm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, always happy to assist or offer local tips.

One of the unexpected highlights was having two fantastic pub restaurants within easy reach. One in particular – The Tully Inn – served an absolutely brilliant meal. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone staying nearby, but be sure to make a reservation, as it gets busy for good reason!

All in all, Grandtully Station is a great campsite in a stunning location, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind in nature with a few excellent local spots to eat.

Local attractions

You’ll probably end up in Pitlochry (15 minutes’ drive) sooner or later, as it’s a handy place for shops, but it’s also a nice place for a stroll to see some of its heritage and unusual sights such as the fish ladder. Just outside the town are Blair Athol Distillery, which is open for tours and tastings, and Tay Forest Park, which has lots of lovely woodland trails to follow. For more heritage outings, head to Cluny House Gardens (10 minutes) and Castle Menzies (15 minutes), or have a tour of an Iron Age dwelling at The Scottish Crannog Centre (25 minutes), often with music or craft demonstrations. Whisky is part of the national heritage too, of course – so you could also add on another distillery tour at Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery (10 minutes). There’s a whole lot of excellent scenery and wildlife to explore nearby too – a couple of the best places to check them out are at Queen's View Visitor Centre and Scottish Wildlife Trust - Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre (both 25 minutes). Intrepid guests can also join expeditions with The Rafting Company - Perthshire, a couple of minutes' walk from the site.
