  • Family-friendly glampsite on a working farm in the Kingdom of Fife
  • Edinburgh, St Andrews and Perth all half an hour’s drive
  • Modern and luxurious shepherds huts with exclusive-use barbecues
For a peaceful Kingdom of Fife countryside break with a large dollop of luxury and lots of stylish, designer-y touches included, head for the snazzy shepherd’s huts at Capledrae Farm. They're roughly half an hour’s drive from St Andrews, Perth and Edinburgh, and around 10 minutes will get you to walking and cycling routes, so you’ll certainly never be short of things to see and do. The smart wooden huts are well insulated and – thanks to central heating and underfloor heating – very cosy, so you’ll stay warm in any chilly Scottish weather. Each one sleeps up to four and has an individual design, with bespoke artworks and pretty furnishings, double beds and ensuites with powerful showers. Spick-and-span kitchens are fully equipped with a hob and microwave, all the necessaries for rustling up simple meals, and a welcome pack of complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, bread and butter to get you going on arrival. If you feel the need to get grilling, simply head right next door to your private-use barbecue hut, with comfy seating around a firepit – all utensils and charcoal supplied. Pick up provisions for said barbecue in Lochgelly (10 minutes’ drive), where there are also a few pubs and takeaways. As the shepherd’s huts are on a working farm with cattle and horses, dogs are not permitted on site.

The Four Sevens shepherd's hut

Liked: The owner Maggie was lovely, nothing was too much. The site is beautiful and a real escape from normality. My little girl loved the horses and rides in the buggy.

The Four Sevens shepherd's hut

Liked: We all had a fabulous time staying at Capledrae Farm, the accommodation was spotless with everything we needed, including the spacious barbecue hut. Maggie and her sister Roberta could not have made us more welcome, so much so that my children and I were very sad to leave. The view is beautiful from the huts, even in grey weather. There was a large grassed area at the side that we used for kicking a ball around and a horse and pony in the field in front of us. We took the train from Lochgelly into Edinburgh which took about 50 minutes and visited St. Andrews by car. Capledrae Farm is a wonderful place to rest and relax. We definitely hope to return, we loved it! 💕

From the manager: We were also sad to see you leave. Both the children were great at helping poo pick the field, brush out the stable, and look after the horses. The dog also had a wonderful time having someone to throw his toys for him. Both huts were left immaculate, and the huge plus was the covers were taken off the duvets and pillowcases. Haste ye back

The Four Sevens shepherd's hut

Liked: The shepherds hut was immaculate, the host(maggie) went above & beyond to make sure we all enjoyed our break, you can tell she enjoys meeting new people & making sure they enjoy themselves while staying there. The surroundings are so peaceful, a great break had by all.

Disliked: We can't fault anything about our break. The only dislike is that we didn't book for longer. We will definitely be back.

From the manager: Lovely family and a pleasure to host. I was also lucky to be presented with a drawing of the sun and a rainbow, very special. Both huts left immaculate and I did not even have to clean the BBQ. Thank you

The Four Sevens shepherd's hut

Liked: Amazing host and location. The most beautiful views and close to Edinburgh which was perfect for exploring. The shepherds hut was warm and immaculate with the great addition of a BBQ hut that was a hit with the children for making s’mores.
