Stopover on the headland
Bench seating on the headland overlooking the moray firth
Aerial view of the site

  • Basic, dog-friendly motorhome and campervan stopover
  • Within walking distance of Fraserburgh’s beach and harbour
  • Access to the Moray Coast Trail and North East 250; firepit on site
Suitable for motorhomes and campervans with an on-board toilet, the hardstanding pitches have access to the Moray Coast Trail and the North East 250 for longer hikes or road trips. There are seating areas on the headland and inside the garden walls, as well as a firepit that guests are welcome to make use of. It’s a pet-friendly spot, handily for those walking the Moray Coast Trail with their canine companion. There’s water, recycling bins and seating areas, and any vehicles adapted for sleeping are welcome, just as long as they have a toilet. Black waste disposal is available on site for a small additional fee charged per cassette. The coast is popular with not just hikers, but also visiting minke whales and orcas, as well as a seal colony that lives directly opposite the stopover in summer. The friendly aire is next to a cottage by the sea, just outside of Fraserburgh, which is an easy one-and-a-half-mile walk or a five-minute drive or cycle (there’s a cycling path just opposite). With a supermarket, takeaway and bus stop a quarter of a mile away, the location’s really rather handy. There’s a nice bunch of varied cafés, tearooms and restaurants in Fraserburgh too, of course, if you’re channelling your inner foodie. Fraserburgh has a busy shellfish port, harbour, lighthouse (the oldest lighthouse in Scotland, and built on a castle keep). Call by the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, which has a café with a stunning view. The sandy Fraserburgh beach is often blessed with splendid surf (for which there’s a surf school set up). Other spots around Fraserburgh include a golf course, bowling alley and indoor pool.

What customers say

Great value stopover. Friendly hosts share local tips. Convenient Fraserburgh location, sea views, and seal spotting. Some road noise, fading overnight. Recycling available, black tank emptying for a fee. No general waste bin to keep prices low.

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Great Aire, with very helpful owners. We booked for 2 nights through pitchup. Nice level pitches for any size of vans. Good toilet waste facility, the owner has an extra long hose for filling up your van. Easy walk into Fraserburgh. Bus service nearby which we used. Great views out to sea, you can hear the seals howling. A great facility which we would use again.

Disliked The road is busy and fast, but quietens down at night.

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Host very knowledgeable and friendly
Had a lovely walk on the beach and in sand dunes. Great cafe and delicious cakes.

Disliked Road noise, but we still had a good nights sleep. However, for the cost of the pitch I can’t really complain about anything.

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked An ideal aire stopover when traveling the NE250 route especially if visiting Fraserburgh and the numerous east coast villages.

Friendly owners with a wealth of local knowledge of good places to visit and eat. Great views across to the sea with access to the beach. Excellent value for money.

And although close to the road, the sound of traffic wasn't intrusive and didn't spoil our sleep.

From the manager: Thank you for staying and taking the time to leave a lovely review. It means a lot to us since our aire is at our home.

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Great stop over, just on the edge of Fraserburgh with access to the coast and shops nearby. Nothing fancy, safe parking with facilities to empty your black tank and rubbish. What more do you need?
The bonus was extremely helpful chatty owners with information on where to visit nearby and as we were in a small van we got to park up in their garden a little further from the road.
