  • Eco-friendly site in Miltown Malbay, a hub of traditional music
  • A five-minute drive from Spanish Point and the Wild Atlantic Way
  • Fresh produce for sale on site from the organic smallholding
Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle, but this County Clare site is green in more ways than one… Eco Camping Glamping is a peaceful park three kilometres from seaside strolls along the wild west coast. Head to this off-grid, eco-conscious site to wake up to views of green fields, native trees and wildflower meadows. All of the site's power, including charging points for gadgets, is supplied by renewable sources. There's also an organic smallholding on site, meaning that the folk that run this place are well-placed to supply you with healthy goodies like free-range eggs and fresh salad. The surrounding landscape is pleasant and gentle indeed, but more dramatic views are just around the corner. Head to the coast (five minutes’ drive) to join the Wild Atlantic Way – highlights along this well-trodden trail include the Cliffs of Moher, Spanish Point and the lush Loop Head Peninsula. For some beach time, Spanish Point beach is a three-kilometre or 45-minute walk away from the site (or a five-minute drive). Whitestrand, Miltown Malbay, is another fine spot for a quick swim, and it's only five minutes' drive away from the site. Eco Camping Glamping is close to Miltown Malbay – so close, in fact, that this town's food shops, bars and pubs can all be reached within a five-minute walk. This place is known as 'the home of traditional Irish music', so a toe-tapping pint or two at a local live music night should certainly be on the cards during your stay.

Primitive grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Quiet site, friendly and helpful staff. It was interesting with, chickens roaming, a bunny rabbit, veggie patches etc.
Lots of trees and shrubs.
Good outdoor dish washing with fresh was tap and a water filter dispenser.
The shower was lovely and hot, in a very basic hut, made of up cycled materials. One of the toilets was a composting one.
I can't say I disliked the place, but some might find it a little too eco.
10 minutes walk from super market and the town which has many eateries and pubs.

Disliked: The first so called hard standing pitch we were put on was very wet soft and we got stuck, it took 15 minutes with our mats to get out.
Queuing for the 1 shower.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: We loved our stay. The view was amazing, it was only a 5 minute walk to the town with local shops, pubs and lovely shops. Lucy was such a lovely girl and was very helpful. There were ducks & chickens on site and they graced us with visits everyday, which was lovely when we come from a big town and never had that opportunity before. Such a serene time had by us both. We will definitely be back. Short trip away from the Cliffs if Moher, Spanish Point and Lahinch beach and golf club.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Great location. Near the town so can grab what you need if needed. The host, Mícheál, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. If we had an issue I wouldn't hesitate to ask him. The facilities we cleaned and well maintained and the pitch was level, soft and comfortable.

Local attractions

This stretch of the Clare coast really does hit the ball out of the proverbial park. As it's the closest beach, you'll most likely want to kick things off at Spanish Point (five minutes' drive), a peaceful stretch of sand named after Armada ships that were shipwrecked nearby in 1588. There's also a beachfront golf club here (also five minutes), a nifty nine-holer with ace sea views. Onwards next to further-flung spots like White Strand beach (25 minutes), the Loop Head Peninsula (30 minutes) and the Cliffs of Moher (30 minutes), each and every one of which is full of natural loveliness. The latter spot is particularly impressive and one of the most visited locales in all of Ireland – with eight kilometres of dramatic coastal vistas, 20 species of nesting birds and UNESCO Global Geopark status, there's certainly a lot to reel fresh air-loving travellers in. An afternoon trip to Willie Daly's Donkey Farm (20 minutes) should go down a treat with the children, although it's also worth knowing that there are some small farm animals to be seen around Eco Camping Glamping. The Aillwee Caves (50 minutes) are also likely to capture kids' imaginations.
