Carron Camping and Caravanning

We loved everything about this site. It was our first time using our caravan and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect site. Beautiful surroundings, so peaceful and the horses were a great hit with our children. Facilities were great. Host was very friendly and helpful.

Lovely atmosphere. Great to be able to walk to pub. Friendly owner and tidy, calm site all in all. This is our second visit. Great location for instant bike trails!

The views and the deer roaming the field next door

Shower was a bit tricky to get to work properly , needed to be on eco setting to get constant warm water. On hot setting it alternated between hot for a few seconds then freezing cold.

Stayed for one night as a nearby camping experience with a 9 and 4 year old. A small, pleasant campsite where the host is available and friendly. Affordable compared to some other sites in the New Forest. Saw a deer upon arrival in the open field across from the pitching site - a delight for our animal obsessed youngster! When it is busy, it would pay to get there early afternoon, especially if you have a larger tent to set up so you feel happy in your allocation. Despite sharing the pitch site with four other campers, there was a reasonable sense of privacy. The toilet and shower block is at the top of the drive, not far; and was clean and modern.
The local pub was easy to walk to in minutes, friendly and had a lovely dog - but do research the pub and alongside it, the restaurant's (Bistro), opening hours and book ahead for meals if you intend to rely on these to eat. You cannot use BBQs on the campsite due to the New Forest guidelines around fire hazards unless you have one of the shingled areas (reserved I believe for camping vans).
The boys and I did the short walk following the road opposite the pub to reach the New Forest trails and pottered for a bit - saw some ponies, farm animals which was enjoyable (as someone who knows the New Forest well, I feel comfortable dawdling...do research it if you don't). I believe one of these trails loop back round, but you would want to know where you are going as there are several trails and even a local we passed said it pays to have an online map or plan.

Nothing to dislike, just be prepared that payment needs to be in cash, not card, and that you cannot use BBQs or campfires on the grass. Speak to the host if you need clarification around this.
Just be mindful of children walking up to the toilets via the driveway; with cars potentially coming and going at the top of the driveway.

Decent flat pitches. Good area with an incredible pub near by. Not many facilities but what is there is top quality.
