  • Dog-friendly pop-up site on a peaceful working farm in rural Somerset
  • A 15-minute drive from Cheddar Gorge and 20 minutes from the coast
  • Farm shop selling local produce and barbecue boxes; firepit per pitch
If you’re looking to crack open the Somerset countryside and mix up your itinerary with trips to the seaside and caverns, then check in at Poplar Farm Outpost… based on Poplar Farm, a working farm with sheep that already runs a bed and breakfast and farm shop with vending lockers, this dog-friendly site has peaceful grassy pitches down a quiet country lane, great for existing fans of walking and cycling (or those looking to embrace a new holiday hobby). Looking to source some tasty treats? Well, you won’t have far to look, as there’s a farm shop on site. The shop sells lots of local produce, from breakfast boxes and barbecue boxes to afternoon tea platters… get your mitts on cakes, savouries, milk and milkshakes, local cheddar or strawberries and cream. And if you’d rather take it away, it’s possible to pre-order a takeaway breakfast to take back to your tent. A toasty evening may be in store too, as each pitch comes with its own firepit. Other facilities around the site include running drinking water and toilets to keep you feeling comfortable. Handily, as the site is five minutes’ drive away from the historic village of Wedmore, there are cafés, pubs and shops on-hand for when you feel like heading out for a meal somewhere splendid. If you’d rather set out on foot (perhaps you’re planning a few pints), there’s a country pub under 20 minutes’ walk away from the site too.
