The huts

  • Luxurious, adults-only retreats on an historic estate in Somerset
  • South West Coast Path half an hour’s drive; Stonehenge an hour
  • Handcrafted shepherd’s huts with private hot tubs and pizza ovens
The bijou, adults-only getaways at Jordans Estate Glamping are on an historic family estate five minutes’ drive from Ilminster in Somerset. The land was once owned by Captain John Hanning Speke, a Victorian explorer credited with ‘discovering’ Lake Victoria, the source of the Nile in 1858. He was a compatriot of those other intrepid explorers, Henry Stanley and David Livingstone, who lent their names to the huts. ‘Livingstone’ and ‘Stanley’ are handcrafted in oak, fully insulated and heated by woodburning stoves. The huts are fully self-catering, with kitchens (kitted out with fridge and cooker, and plenty of tea and coffee to keep you going), dining areas, ensuite bathrooms (all towel and bedding included) and pull-down double beds. Outside, each has its own exclusive two-person woodfired hot tub and pizza oven/firepit and two bags of wood – more is available for a charge. In the morning, you may well wake to see deer grazing and pheasants strutting about under 300-year-old plane trees, while at night you can fall asleep to the hoots and barks of owls and foxes. And in fact, site owners Rich and Em want you to enjoy the flowers and wildlife so much that – on request – they organise guided nature walks around the parkland and stargazing tours after dark on clear nights.

Stanley 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked Friendly owners.
Very peaceful and quiet.
Hut was lovely and full of everything we needed.
Hot tub and pizza oven were fab.
Very useful email with instructions and info added.
Lovely scenic area.
Would have liked a mini map of the area just to check where was out of bounds and good strolls. Owners did offer to provide verbal info but us anti social travellers avoid that at all costs, lol.

Disliked Bugs lol

Liked A fantastic find!
Very easy to find and plenty of parking.
The owners are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you. Nothing was ever a problem.
The hut itself was immaculate and finished to a very high spec.
We will definitely be booking again.

Livingstone 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked The huts, wood fired hot tubs, location, privacy and owners were great - we had a lovely stay and we’d definitely come back.

Disliked Little bit of road noise but couldn’t hear it in the hut, would have liked a little freezer compartment in the fridge for ice (could have fit a bigger one without the drawer above!).

We can honestly say we had an amazing time. The owners were…

Stanley 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked *Loved Everything, the attention to details we had everything and more , we were warmly welcomed when we arrived and a tour of The Stanley Hut, the facilities were amazing and we loved the wood fired hot tub and pizza oven! We loved how close we were to Ilminster but also felt so secluded and in the middle of the countryside! We couldn’t of asked for better , Thank you for making our Easter break so peaceful and chilled! We will be back!

Disliked There’s nothing not too like!

Stanley 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked The atmosphere at Jordan's is fabulously relaxed, and the hosts are very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the Stanley hut for two nights and were simply amazed at how well appointed it was! Not to mention spotlessly clean. We wanted for absolutely nothing; everything was provided for us, and the little complimentary touches (delicious marshmallows for toasting, for example) made us feel very well looked after indeed. You don't need to bring any cooking utensils or bedding, as is sometimes the case with other glamping sites; literally everything is taken care of for you. The overall presentation of the huts is so sweet and picturesque, my soul might have developed diabetes if I'd stayed much longer. I don't think I've ever seen accommodation so cute and pretty, which is saying something, as I'm spoilt enough to live in a historic seaside town myself, but this really is something else! Fairy lights, flowers, herbs, moonlight and a wood-fired hot tub. You can't ask for much else!

Disliked Very little, there is nothing to dislike.
It is fairly close to an A road, but that can't be helped.

We have had the most amazing break away. Such a lovely little…

Livingstone 1 bedroom shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked We have had the most amazing break away. Such a lovely little set up in the shepherds hut, private hot tub which was brilliant. Such a warm welcome on our arrival with some lovely touches and the most beautiful view. We both feel completely relaxed and will definitely be returning and recommending to others.
