Long Beach 1 bedroom camping pod

Liked Very unique experience! Loved the overall style and feel of the bus and the fact that all the original controls/drivers seat have been left in. Our bus-obsessed toddlers were in their elements! Beds and bedding were comfy and warm. The campsite itself was peaceful (even when busy) and felt friendly and safe.

Disliked Decor and finishing needs updating - some of the curtains/blinds are roughly done and hanging off the rails and the floor flakes paint onto bare feet. The fire alarm was sensitive to even just boiling the kettle (we were very concerned we would wake neighbours!). We were also told on arrival that there was a pizza van at the weekends however, no one mentioned the important point that we had to pre-order. This was a bit of an issue with two hungry 2 year olds, but Cheddar Ales taproom saved the day.

Local attractions

If the word Cheddar doesn’t make you immediately think of cheese, it may well bring to mind the gorge instead – and in fact both are within easy reach, as you can pick up some of the famous produce in the town of Cheddar before heading up to explore Cheddar Gorge and caves (five minutes’ drive). There’s more excellent geology to see at Wookey Hole and Ebbor Gorge (both 15 minutes), and plenty of lovely landscapes around to accompany walks through the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the site is just on the edge of this area, so getting out to explore is easy. For other days out, well… how about a visit to Wells (20 minutes), meeting the animals at Apex Leisure & Wildlife Park (25 minutes) or a ride on the Bath and West Steam Railway (35 minutes)? And of course the coast is half an hour away for beach times in Burnham-on-Sea or Weston-super-Mare…
