  • Glamping site with adventure centre, lakes, farmyard and vineyard
  • Water zorbing, raft building, kayaking, canoeing and coarse fishing
  • Wine tastings, huge play barn, treetop adventure course and mini zoo
An organic vineyard, two lakes, an outdoor adventure centre, fluffy farm animals, spectacular views… there's quite the list of fab features at this smart glamping site. Enthusiastically acclaimed by former guests, Secret Valley is a countryside glamping retreat on an organic farm, vineyard and outdoor activity centre, in a peaceful rural spot among Somerset’s Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Accommodation is well spaced out across lush green countryside to provide guests with plenty of space and privacy throughout their stay. The activities are so many here that you’d be well advised to take the farm tour to get a feel for what you might fancy: there's high and low ropes courses and archery at the treetop adventure centre, and raft building, water zorbing and kayaking and canoeing on a sheltered and private lake... just to start you off. You can go coarse fishing at another dedicated lake over the other side of the estate, or if sipping tipples is more your sort of thing, DIY wine tastings are available around the vineyard. A huge play barn and a sports pitch are to hand to keep the kids out of trouble, along with a games room with two pool tables and table football. Small sorts can also visit the farm to pet and cuddle miniature goats, alpacas and miniature donkeys. Finally, another fab feature of this splendid site is the glamping buggy that does its rounds in the early evening: guests can replenish wood and coal supplies from here, and stock up on supplies of wine, local cider, marshmallows and electric meter cards.

Local attractions

The edge of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is 20 minutes’ walk from the farm, so amble over here for gentle walks or challenging hikes, or for other outdoorsy pursuits like horse trekking from the stables in West Bagborough or mountain biking around the trails in Crowcombe. Several courses are within easy reach too, including a premier 18-hole green nearby in Enmore Bridgwater, and a pitch and putt course over in Cannington. You can reach the coast easily from here with fossils and rock formations at Kilve beach less than half an hour’s drive away. If you’re an avid angler and fancy taking your rod elsewhere, head to the Durleigh Reservoir in Enmore for coarse fishing, or to the coast off the Quantocks to try it in the sea.
