  • Family-run Somerset campsite near Bridgwater, with easy M5 access
  • A 15-minute drive to the Quantock Hills, and 20 to Burnham-on-Sea
  • Modern showers, communal kitchen and dog run; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Looking for a quiet, family-orientated caravan park with generous-sized pitches in Somerset? Your search is over, for Newton Brook Caravan and Camping near Bridgwater is that place. It’s a friendly spot to overnight (it’s a short drive from Junction 24 of the M5 motorway) if you’re heading to Cornwall, or for longer stays if you’d like to make further forays into Somerset. Facilities to make life easy for families on site are tiptop, with a spotless, contemporary shower and loo block, plus a communal kitchen with fridges, microwave and washing-up sinks to make rustling up supper a breeze. North Petherton village (10 minutes’ drive) is the spot for picking up essentials in the convenience store (and it has a sprinkling of pubs and cafés if cooking is off limits on your holiday). As well as welcoming kids – there’s green space on site to play around safely and a smartly kitted-out games room to keep everybody occupied – the park is dog-centric too. Any canine with a zoomie attack can run around in the enclosed field, and there are walks aplenty along the Taunton Bridgwater Canal to tire everybody out (dog included). The park is located right next to a family farm, so you can often spot cattle and sheep grazing contentedly in surrounding fields, with the chance to see gambolling lambs in early spring and calves a bit later in the year.

What customers say

This well-maintained park boasts spotlessly clean, modern facilities like showers, restrooms, and a game room. Friendly, helpful staff create a relaxed vibe. Its prime location near the M5 and local shops is a plus. Expect spacious, level pitches with great dog amenities. Some guests noted distant highway noise, but overall, it's a fantastic stay with many wanting to return.

Liked Jane the owner, is very welcoming and Robert is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Our hose wasn't quite long enough to reach the tap between the pitches so he went and found one and filled us up with water. The facilities are very smart and kept spotlessly clean. We have been visiting the site for several years now and seen it develop. They are continually planting trees and really close look after the facilities. There is always someone on site to keep an eye on things. There's even a nice dig run and a games room.

Liked Quiet. No specific leaving time. Welcomed by enthusiastic host .
Liked relaxed atmosphere.
Superb toilet/ shower facilities. Very revise guidance to find site from motorway.

Good overnight stop, not really a ‘stay for holiday’ site unless using it to meet relatives or friends. Would call again.
Despite many long term pitches for workers at Hinckley point, it was very quiet.

Liked Very handy for visiting Bridgewater and the Quantocks. Very friendly staff. Robert not only showed us to our pitch but helped us to unhitch the caravan. Gary kept the showers and toilets spotlessly clean.

Local attractions

If you’re planning on sticking around in Somerset for a while, you’re in pole position here for days out exploring by car. Head to north-coast beaches like Berrow (half an hour’s drive) and Burnham-on-Sea (20 minutes) for some family fun splashing in the shallows, or turn south and treat the kids to a day out on the rollercoasters and 4D rides at Crealy Theme Park and Resort (50 minutes). Rather explore on foot? There's plenty of choice for walkers around here, with the gorgeous Quantock Hills (15 minutes) or Blackdown Hills Areas of Outstanding Nature Beauty (40 minutes) riddled with hiking trails. Travel a little further and you can discover the walking routes of wild Exmoor, as well as historic spots like Tarr Steps clapper bridge (an hour) and the pretty town of Dulverton (50 minutes). Other places you might like to consider exploring are Wells (45 minutes), with its spectacular cathedral and castle, or funky little Glastonbury (40 minutes), awash with hippy shops and cute little cafés.
