Hare's Hideaway primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Pitch was great with lots of space between the pitches, so was quite private.
Lovely clean facilities. Picnic bench was a nice touch as it saves having to take a table.Ali was helpful and friendly too.

Hare's Hideaway primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Great host, Ali explained all aspects of the campsite set up and gave great info on local interest and shops. All facilities are very well maintained, great loos and showers, with dishwash and recycling areas. very secluded, wake up to a great landscape view, no neighbours in sight!. Picnic Table and fire pit with seasoned wood. Amazing night sky and wildlife sounds. We'll definitely be back.

Local attractions

West Dorset’s coastline calls for a day foraging for fossils at Charmouth (15 minutes’ drive) on the Jurassic Coast, or playing in golden sand on the crescent of beach at Seatown (also 15 minutes). The pretty coastal town of Lyme Regis (20 minutes) also has a couple of beaches as well as mini golf, an amusement arcade and shops selling fossils. Pop over the county lines into Devon for the triumvirate of beaches at Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth (all about half an hour away). If you’d like to get some walking in, you can join the South West Coast Path at Charmouth and walk to Golden Cap, the highest point along the coastline. Inland, you have options among stunning landscapes in the Dorset National Landscape, and you can have a potter along the holloways – ancient sunken paths adorned with mysterious stone carvings – at Shute’s Lane (20 minutes) and Hell Lane (15 minutes). Colmer’s Hill (15 minutes) has fantastic vistas to the sea, while the ancient hill forts at Lambert’s Castle (10 minutes) and National Trust-owned Coney’s Castle (15 minutes) both have soaring views across Marshwood Vale.
