  • Rural site among spectacular scenery on a private farm estate
  • A few miles from Wareham and under 30 minutes to Swanage and Studland
  • Peaceful and family-friendly wildlife haven
Deer in a wildlife haven, ancient oaks in a wide green field, and manor house views on a secluded Dorset site… be tremendously sensible and book Trigon Farm as soon as poss. Set in a rural field near Wareham with views of Trigon Manor house and arable fields to the left and beyond, this is a fab site for families: hidden away from main roads and traffic, with stacks of space for running around and big scope for mini nature hunters to roam around and spot deer, buzzards and woodpeckers. There are cows to spy too, as Trigon is on a beef cattle farm with the farming part of the site across the estate; the curious can watch the Trigon cows laze about in the adjoining fields and see the workings of everyday farming all around. Off site, it's a few miles to Wareham from here (Monkey World is a must), and less than half an hour's drive to spectacular Dorset beaches at Studland and Swanage. And by evening? As befits a site such as this, firepits and barbecues are allowed – so sort your supplies and sit back to snuggle up under the stars. Your closest pitstops for stocking up are the convenience shop and mini market at the Carey Road entrance to Trigon two miles down the lane; much more can be sorted in Wareham's shops and supermarkets or at its Saturday market. Amenities include four huts with flushing toilets, four shower huts with free hot water, a washing-up area, drinking water taps, and rubbish and recycling bins. The farm has a phone signal as well as 3G and 4G.

What customers say

Peaceful, spacious, and clean site with super friendly hosts. Guests rave about spotless facilities, tranquil vibes, and beautiful scenery. Limited capacity means a relaxed, roomy experience. Great location for exploring, with many wanting to return. Minor suggestions: phone charging, ice pack freezing.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Showers and toilets were clean and worked well. Not too busy, it was quiet and kid friendly. Good for monkey world and tank museum.

Disliked Due to the dry weather we couldn’t have a fire but that’s no fault of the campsite at all, totally understandable.

Star bell tent

Liked We’ve just got back from a wonderful stay!.. The bell tent and set up is amazing! Everything has been thought of! Even down to the tea, sugar and filter coffee with a cafetière, you literally just need to bring towels, food/cool box and everything else is sorted for you! We will definitely be back again, I’ve already recommended to friends and family too! I honestly can’t fault anything, it really makes all the differences when everything is provided for! The beds were comfy and there were extra blankets too, toilets and showers were clean and Rob was always around ensuring everyone was ok as well as checking on the facilities. Thank you Rob and Jayne for a great weekend!

Disliked Nothing!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is a nice campsite set over two fields with good shower, toilet and washing-up area. The owner, Rob, is a kind and friendly chap who came around each evening to check on guests and have a chat. The campsite is in a good location near the lovely small town of Wareham, with Swanage, Isle of Purbeck and Poole all in easy reach.

Disliked Only small criticism is that it would be good to provide a fridge, or freezer for storing ice blocks.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is a fantastic rural and quiet campsite in a beautiful place. Perfect for star-gazing gas listening to nature.
I especially liked that the site was not overfilled with tents and felt quiet and peaceful.
Attentive host who also enjoyed a chat (if you wanted it, he wasn't at all intrusive).

Disliked There's a very long track to the campsite (1.2 miles, I think) that's pretty bumpy. I wouldn't mark this place down for this reason but it's something to have in mind. There is a shorter track to access the site too, but it wasn't obvious until the host told us about it.

Local attractions

As well as its shops – and pubs – Wareham, three miles away, has a pretty quay for picnic spots, a cinema and a public swimming pool, and is the starting point for boat trips to spectacular Poole Harbour. Wareham golf club is less than 10 minutes' drive from the farm. Hikers should head to the nearby Purbeck Hills or the Dorset Downs (part of the southern England Chalk Group that also includes Salisbury Plain and the South Downs). Top spots for adventuring and exploring days include the famed Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove and Lulworth Castle – and if your junior adventurers are of the Enid Blyton variety, they'll like a look at Corfe Castle too, said to be the inspiration for Kirrin Castle in the Famous Five books. More walking, as well as cycling, can be sorted at the Sika Trail, two miles away.
