Camping with a view

  • Small, eco-friendly family-run site in the Dorset National Landscape
  • Lyme Regis and South West Coast Path five minutes’ drive
  • Spectacular views to the sea; dog friendly; barbecues allowed
Set back from the Jurassic Coast above Lyme Regis, family-run Berries Farm Camping has spacious and scenic grass pitches on five acres of scenic farmland. Well away from the buzz of the coastal towns in the Dorset National Landscape, the site is unpowered and some of the pitches slope slightly but the peace and quiet – and the stunning views – more than compensate. Amenities include flushing toilets and showers with hot water, otherwise you’re pretty much on your own. Barbecues raised off the grass are permitted, but campfires are not allowed (for the safety of the livestock that grazes the area outside of campsite months). Along the same lines, pets are welcome on site but please bear in mind that there are sheep in neighbouring fields so you'll need to keep a close eye on them. Up your green credentials and walk down to Charmouth in just over half an hour, or Lyme Regis in about 40 minutes. For Lyme Regis you can also take the park-and-ride bus a few minutes’ walk south of the farm – you can access the South West Coast Path once there. There are plenty of other local footpaths to ramble along nearby, and pretty Bridport and West Bay are both also accessible by bus in around 15 minutes. Stay here and you'll be well place to explore the many fabulous attractions of the Jurassic Coast, visit market towns and seek out local pubs serving home-made meals and local seafood. It's also less than 10 minutes' drive to the cookery school and events at River Cottage HQ.

Lovely countryside views & handy location for Lyme Regis. Spacious pitches. Spotless facilities with warm water. Friendly, knowledgeable owners offer great value. Some road noise noted; a few wished for more privacy & ice block cooling.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We loved our few night with the family at Berries farm! The views are absolutely stunning 😍 Its a lovely quiet and chilled site. We shall definitely be returning 😊 It was close enough to the beach and the shops. The owners are very helpful and quick at replying via email. Toilets and shower were well kept and clean. Also an area where you wash up your cutlery, pots and pans.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The view the space .
The showers and toilets are excellent.

Disliked Noise from the road. The sheep bleating .

Maybe ask for a pitch further from the road but then it might have been too much of a slope for our three tents.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Spacious camping field with generous pitches overlooking a beautiful valley. Clean and efficient facilities in quality portocabins. Great location because I didn't need to use the car all weekend - 45mins walk from Lyme Regis and easy access to the coastal path.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Very clean toilets and showers. Nicely spaced out pitches and amazing views of the hills and great sunset. Simple checking in and out- no faff. Not far from Lyme Regis. Would stay again 100%

Disliked Toilet cubicles are tiny so if you want some privacy you may not like this! The washing up didn’t have any hot water but we just boiled a kettle so it wasn’t an issue. Sheep on the field next to us smelt like poo but after a while you get used to the smell- and I assume the sheep get moved around so probably not always there!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Chilled site, large set up area, great facilities. Good for families needing convenient access to Lyme Regis.
The site is just off the main road with easy instructions for access. It's about 30 minute walk to Lyme Regis or 2 minutes to the park and ride. The walk back is 45 minutes, straight up the hill but you can cut through the forest and fields which offers a great view of the harbour. The site itself overlooks the hills down the valley with amazing sunsets on offer.
The site facilities are clean and better than we'd anticipated. Warm showers and toilet rolls are all supplied 👍
The owners communication is great and offered clear instructions for gaining access and how to get to the local walking path. Overall very happy with our stay and would consider staying again when local to the area.
